Default JBA Headers

I have read a bit on this forum and get differing opinions on ease of install (none claim it to be easy), clearance issues and the need for different motor mounts with headers. I have a set of JBA shorties. Have any of you guys put these on your cars? If so, did you need new motormounts? Any advice on the install? Any difference with a Saleen vs Mustang GT? Thanks in advance.

I've heard many different things about the 'ease' or there lack of when installing headers on any new mustang. I've heard guys pulling the motor slighty out, needing different mounts, etc etc. I also have a buddy whos done it in about 4 hours with just having the car up on a lift...guess it depends on whos doing it

Jonsey,

It's much easier/faster if you read the directions first. With my LT's we had to take out the battery, starter, and loosen the AC unit. After that there was plenty of rrom and the install went smoothly. I'd plan on 4-6 hours depending on your level of expertise.

Instructions claim you have to lift the motor for install. If thats the case, might as well change the motor mounts and I can't do it in my garage. Are you guys saying I don't need to lift the motor?

I didn't. That's really weird. I don't know why you'd have to lift it to fit in shortys. Is that what the instructions say Jonsey?

243, the instructions say you have to lift the motor. Have you had clearance issues?

Nope, no clearance issues at all. Like I said, what I did have to remove was the battery, starter, and loosen the AC unit. Once we did that everything slid in beautifully. I believe we used the Bassani instructions. Very detailed and they include pictures. I'll try to find the link.

Whoops it was Borla instructions. I forgot you also have to disconnect the steering shaft and rack and pinion. Not that big of a deal. Here's the link:
