Default So have any of you guys tried to trade in your Saleen lately?

Well I just did. 2001 s281 70k
Well my trade in value was a whopping 6-8k which would put me over 10k upside down.
I basically said holy f'ing **** and walked out. I guess the market has changed substanially since I purchased the vehicle huh lol
With a replaced motor and s/c I've put into the car more than what "auction" price. ouch!
Ok rant over.
Just wanted to see if anyone else has had any similar experiences.

go to a carmax dealer and see what they appraise your car?

www.carmax.com find a location and spend 30 minutes of your time and get the appraisal. if you like it. have them buy your car

no i was at a few off brand dealers

they cant find figures or value on the car, so ive printed nada , and they calld the local saleen dealer an that is the number they put on it for trade in

a friend who sells toyotas , who previously sold saleens put 35 trade in on it, and told me dont take nothing less, ( too bad he does not sell what im going for or i would have took it an ran)

You're ALWAYS going to do better selling the car outright yourself - especially on anything over 3 years old. New-car dealers aren't going to mess with anything special-interest (like a Saleen), and most of them send anything 3+ years old to a wholesale auction. So they are only going to offer you 15% UNDER what they think they can get wholesale for it.

I sold my 2000 less than a month ago for $20k+ with 50k miles. There IS a market out there.........

I was really hoping to get 15-18k which really doesnt seem too far fetched to me.

NADA value is as follows:
Low: 19,400 Average: 24,000 High: 28,100
Retail is anywhere from 19k to 24k
Non sc models for 2001 are going for 15k

I may check out carmax. I'm really not in a rush to part with the Saleen.

as i mentioned earlier im gonna dump mine at a ford dealer and get pick up a used P.O.S daily driver and sell something else. before i always sell or trade my cars in i go to Carmax, get a free appraisal and see what they say. the appraisal is good for 10 days and if the miliage doesnt change over 500 in ten days.

1. get buy value from carmax
2. go to dealer and see what they offer
3. if dealer offers more and a better do it right then
4. if ford dealer doesnt give a good value, run back to carmax and dump it
