Default questions about the tvs2300

ok i searched and couldn't really find the answer i was looking for.. umm with the tvs2300 supercharger, is the base kit it comes as safe for our car without forged internals? is there a safe tune you can get? i saw on stage3motorsports the kit came at 12-14psi or something..
i really want a supercharger and i figured if i got one, why not get one that will give you pretty good numbers, plus the dealership i got my car is an authorized roush dealer so i could probably finance it and get it installed by them and whatever.. only thing is i don't wanna have the possibility of my car exploding cuz i'm in school right now and won't have the money for a whole new engine or whatever..
and also, what are things i will def need after getting blown? trying to figure out total cost..
what would it cost to get forged internals? cost of the kit and install..
thanks in advance =)

12-14psi on the stock internals doesn't sound too good. That supercharger is a beast, but I'd imagine you would need to forge your engine first. If it's not over what the stock internals can take....I'd think it's pretty close.

I got a quote on forging and it was around $8k. Definitely not cheap.

The TVS blower is a pretty bad *** one You can run it on a stock bottom end. The blower (at this time) only has one size pulley. Boost will depend on rpm, exhaust, etc.

The kit comes with everything except fuel pump system and tune. To run on a stock bottom end, you just need to keep the timing conservative and a little fat on the fuel side.

Good old nitrous Pete has one on his car.....in the 10's....stock bottom end.

If you are intersted in a kit, let me know.

Hey casey....what power does that blower push with 12-14psi boost? That doesn't exceed 450rwhp outta the box?

Emichael....if you do get that supercharger....go all out and forge it so you can use all that power!

figure its about 510 at the crank so with the 15% loss (if thats what it is, i'm not totally sure) it would be about 435ish rwhp

i'm not tryin to have a rediculous track car right now, this is my DD and i'd just like some more power for some more fun.. i would forge it if it wasn't so expensive =( once i graduate college though i will

450+whp is usually when you wanna go forged right? well like i said above if it comes out to 435ish then that sounds good

Cool

Well .... I'll say it. Unpopular perhaps, and uncool but I'd recommend building the motor for the boost first. Although the kit is probably just fine with the stock pulley and psi .... I know I'd really consider getting the motor built for the blower. Especially if this is your DD.

I, like most of you, have seen guys slap a stock system on their DD and something unfortunate happens -- not entirely a fault of their own -- and you're watching the car sit while you scramble together money to get it fixed. Always recommend, if you super/turbocharge ... set aside an equal amount of money to get it fixed.

Never the popular advice, but always the other side of the coin that should be considered ....
