Default OMG I THINK I AM SCREWED

I am about to cry i cant figure out what to do. I have a 01 GT and i have the coil on spark ignition and I tried to check one of my spark plugs and i didnt even take the spark plug out but i put the wires back in and put everything the way it was. WHen i started it up it was barely missing. Now i checked it again to see why it was missing and i accidently stripped the screw holding the spark plug wire in place. It is now extremly missfiring and my CEL like is on! i hope i do not need a new intake manifold. Please someone help me....

How can the screw holding the wire in place have that much impact on the engine... post some pics for sure!

without seeing what your talking about, i would try just going to a hardware store and getting a tapp and dye set to fit that size hole and trying to re-thread it myself before i went pricing new manifolds.

heres a pic, its the 1st spark plug on the right. The gold screw to the right of the spark plug thingy is the screw that is stripped. if needbe ill circle it for you guys.

i did the same thing dude, because my new manifold had 2 of those untapped, so i tried, but didnt do it quite properly...

anyways my cars running fine so i dont plan to do this soon, but what im going to do is...

put jb-weld into the screw hole, let it set for a day (yes no driving for a day) then get a proper tapping set, and tap that hole nicely with the proper sized bit, and walla, you are set, well, i will be.

Well, If I were you, I'd replace that plastic manifold and get the aluminum x-over... BUT

If you think you'd have to buy a new manifold because you stripped the threading, then have someone install a new manifold for you.

If you want to keep the manifold you have (factory defect), then like Black on Black said re-tap the hole.

If I were you, I would turn the car off and unhook the negative cable from the battery. Then take a flat head screw driver and pry it under the coil pack and the metal threaded sleave holding the bolt on. then try unscrewing the screw. I think what is happening is that the sleeve is spinning in the plastic manifold. That would give way before you would strip the treads on that sleeve. Thats the only way I can think of getting it off. As for your ignition problem, the bolt wouldnt have anything to do with it since thats not a ground. I dont think you but any die-electric greese on the plug so your getting resistance in your wires and its not sending your plug a full spark. Good luck.

I'm not sure if this would help in your case, but when you put the screw back on try putting some teflon tape on it.
