Based on my front page piece, could we see the Mustang GT become a mid-line trim package, with something between that and the GT500?

So, I know that its far fetched, but everything falls into place with my reasoning...

 

I think that speculation is completely in the realm of possibilities...

 

after watching the program on speed on the 2010 reveale im guessing there "next chapter" coming to the january auto show will be the boss 302. we will see!

 

i think if ford did this.. it would deff have a huge mark up cause i think it would over shadow gm and mopar.. i know i would try to get one... with the "next chapter" thing.. i would love to think it could be this but..... in the back of my mind im thinking its just the 2010 GT500... due to the spy shots and the lack of one at the LA Auto Show.. o well thats what dreams hopes and prayers are for lol.. well maybe not prayers

It's definitely possible. Just look at all of the different Ford truck trim packages.

 

Trucks don't have to adhere to the same CAFE numbers as cars.

 

Since Saleen already upgraded the PJ to that engine making almost 400hp, it doesn't seem that out of line even with the new cafe standards. What do you guys think that current PJ engine gets for gas milage??

I'd like the 2010 a whole lot better with an aftermarket front and back bumper, which hopefully Ford would be into. The rear bumper now looks like a plastic diaper in my opinion, and they raised the height of the front splitter area even higher than the 05' models, giving it the look that it has no lower jaw. Just my 2 cents, Erik

 

I'm not sure they are in a position to try to sell large numbers of 400 hp cars.
And I'm not sure Americans are in a position to afford the price of this car. How many people who want more power in a Mustang are actually financially able to purchase a new car that would probably cost around $35,000 (2010 GT Premium is $30,095)?

Ford is begging money from the govt. (that's you and I), and this is what their plan is? Using old, gas guzzling engines in cars that will sell in small numbers?

The lack of innovation is why the Big Three are failing. Well, that and the fact we pay the CEO's millions of dollars to fly private jets while their companies lose BILLIONS.
Wouldn't a modern, direct injection engine, like the Eco-boost, (or even one of those clean diesel engines with their massive torque) be more innovative?

Personally, I'd like to see Ford custom build Mustangs like a new Boss or Mach I, but make the customer order the cars. Building lots of 400 hp Mustangs and hoping they will sell isn't going to work in the current market. Offering us the choice of engines and suspension packages will allow us to tailor the cars to our needs.
