I just bought some new sneakers for the fastback and man, it's getting hard to find the old 15" tires in the size I want.
In the rears I'm running the 235 60r/15, which are still no problem, but in the front I'm running the 205 60r/15 and they are a bitch to find in the BF Goodrich Radial TA's.
So, for convenience sake , while the need is not immediate, I figure that I'm going to have to kiss the baby and eventually go to a 17" setup and have my feelers out now for a set of late(r) model 17" Bullitt or Magnum 500 wheels.
Question: What is needed to adapt these wheels to use on our classics and is anybody running these 17" wheels on a car that has the Shelby drop and if so, what size tires are you running in the front?
Im running Global west Drop which is a bit more than Shelby with cut lowering springs. Doesnt rub, shock travel is not a much but doesnt seem to bottom out too often.
I run an American racing VN2157866 with 4.81 Backspace 17x8 With PSS 245 45 in the rear and 235 45 in the front
There is actually plenty of room...the fenders are rolled all the way around...I could run 245 45 up front if I wanted. I drive the **** out of it that way and its never been an issue.
The trick is the 4.81 backspace there aren't many options for a 4.75(ish) backspace.
I have about 1/8" or less clearance from upper balljoint to wheel also never been an issue..
