Just joined...Looking at a 2005 GT
Hello everybody...new member here.
I have a friend who has a 2005 GT/M5...it has 99K miles but 35K miles on the replacement engine...Mama wants the space in the garage and I may be able to pick this up for a project...
What might I be in for...it ran last time it was parked a couple of years ago...I'd assume it needs everything freshened and a detail to get back on the road...seller said it has minor bumper and fender damage...
what do you think...I'll be reading and hopefully learning on this site...I have zero history with Ford Mustangs and would be learning any mechanical work as I go.
Thanks for any help, experience you care to share...I hope to be able to contribute here.
Bill

Knowing the seller gives you a look into the car's history. When I hear replacement engine, warning signs go up, but there may be a good reason.
No idea what kind of "laid in storage" problems you may face, but you can bet you'll get plenty of help here if you do. New tires may be needed if they've sat flat for long.
But what fun when you get it done! I LOVE Mustangs!

thanks!...I need to talk with him when neither of us are in a rush...it could be that the engine is the original rebuilt or it's a reman...
I appreciate the support odypilots and gravydog316...
Of course I'll update this thread whenever I have more information.

thanks...am I missing some part of the Forum or is there a special place or any consensus on service parts???
I understand that there are opinions all over the place on who makes the best oil, filter, spark plugs but usually on other Forums I can find certain items it seems that many agree on...
I'm still searching and reading individual threads but searches seem to turn up SO many threads and many don't seem to coincide with my search query...
Thanks,
Bill
