Default carb/intake question

I just bought a motor and I need to pick a intake and carb for it and was wondering if someone would recomend a setup for me? Its a 347, Eagle forged 10.5:1, AFR185 heads, and a trickflow stage II cam.

Thanks

Default RE: carb/intake question

RPM Air Gap with a 650cfm-750cfm carb, depending on manufacturer. Quickfuel makes good carbs at a decent price, Profroms aren't quite as high end as a Quickfuel, but work well. Demons are decent but you have to clean the machining crap out of them before you bolt them up. A Quickfuel Q series 750 with downleg boosters and adjustable metering blocks would be my choice, whether or not you get one with a choke is up to you. Mechanical secondary unless it's a heavy car with tall gearing.

There's a formula to see your cfm requirement for a carb.

c.i. x peak h.p. rpm=

whatever that equals divided by 3456= needed cfm's

not sure what that cam pulls to rpm wise in a 347 with those heads, but here's an example basing it on 6500rpms.

347 x 6,500= 2,255,500

2,255,500 / 3,456 = 652.63 cfm

Would be best with a 650cfm carb

That just tells you how much air the engine would theoretically move at 100% VE, not what size carb you need. But that does say that a built to the hilt 347 won't really move more than 650cfm.

I think something around 700-750cfm shuold do it.
Use the air-gap intake and stay away from mechanical secondary's unless you have a bunch of gear and converter to go with it.........
