Default 750 carb

Hey guys. I know a 750 carb is too big for my setup, but if I jet it down a bit, will it work out ok for me? I found a full carb setup thats got everything I need but it's got a holley 750. Either way I'm going to get it, I'm just hoping I can make the 750 work, at least for a while until I can swap it for something smaller, thanks.

BTW, specs are... Factory heads, edelbrock victor jr intake, trick flow stage 1 cam and valve springs, hedman long tubes. THat's it. Thanks.

well I have somebody who's very experianced with carbs and will be able to help me jet it. My question is : Is this carb still gonna be way too big regardless of the way we jet it?

That set up is better suited for a real healty 347 and Woodsy is dead on that it will turn your car into a pig. The same car equipted with a performer intake and 600 cfm carb would leave you at the stoplight like you were dragging an anchor. I'm going to assume you got a really good deal as you say you are getting it regardless. I'd throw it under the shelf for when you build a real motor.

What if I were to run the vic junior with a holley 600? Would that be somewhat respectable?

Reason being is I'm basically getting a straight up trade for my efi stuff, so I really don't want to pass up this offer as I'll be able to swap for next to nothing.

I have a friend who said he'll trade me his 600 for my 750 if I get all this stuff.

Thanks guys.

You can't over carb the car, it's just a metering device that lets air/fuel into the system. As long as it's jetted correct it's fine. Just remember, the carb is sucking air, it's not forcing air. The only things you need to tune are the amount of fuel and squirters etc...

The jetting only affects the fuel side of the carb. It will still flow 750cfm no matter what jets are in it.
Get the 600 carb, 750 is way too much for your combination....

what you need is a 600 or 650 carb max and do away with the victor jr for now, go with a dual plane such as a rpm air gap....your combo will perform so much better

Just because it will flow 750 doesn't mean that's what it's feeding. The engine dictates what it gets via engine vaccum or what it's sucking in. It does not FORCE 750cfm of air in the engine.

If your buying parts no, you don't need a 750. I you have the 750, you can jet it, set the cams, squirters, air bleeds if it has 'em and use a 750 just fine.
