Help me with this cam
Hello.
I have an 85 gt 5 speed. I am currently working on installing a forged 331 stroker with gt40x heads...ect... and a big holset turbo. The car will be using an AED blow through carb.
Now for the question.
I have this Comp Cam camshaft. the part # is 35-000-8. When i look this up i read that it is a core cam used for custom grinding a camshaft. My question is would this be a decent enough cam for my setup. I dont want to hear i need a different cam or anything. If anything i will put a b303 or stock cam because either will max out the stock blocks breaking limit.
Goal is 450-500
the specs are
int. exh.
adv dur: 262 262
dur at .050: 206 206
Valve lift: 480 480
Lobe sep: 112.0
I can use 1.7 rockers to make the cam a little larger if people think i should.
The car will be driven on the street, as well as strip. Also using 3.55 gears.
Has anyone ever heard of this cam?
What do you all think of it?
Any idea of the powerband?
Will it just Die at 5,500(want to go to 6,000-6,500)?
Should i use 1.7 to help it out or just 1.6?
Would the B cam be better?
thanks for any help
jon

Its not that i dont think a custom cam would be good.
I just want to know if anyone could give me any information on this cam. When will it stop making power, powerband, and with 1.7 rockers will it work fine?
As any turbo fox owner knows, the stock cam is enough to crack the block.
I really just want info on the cam.
Thanks for everyones help so far

206°/206° @.050" on a 112° LSA, -18° overlap @.050"...... there are two possible Comp Cams lobes that could have been used in that grind, a full cam degree would help ID which of the two was used, or if both were combined for the intake/exhaust. Your best alternative would be to call Comp Cams tech support. If you get the information you're looking for regarding its powerband..... keep in mind that if they label it from 2800 - 5500 rpms, for your 331 would be ~2576 - 5060 rpms.... and those figures will depend on the valve train setup, cam degreeing, intake, heads, etc, etc...... the cam doesn't turn or make power by itself....

Kinda what i was thinking. Do you think the fact that it will be with a turbo Help or Hurt it. With 1.7 rockers
