Question HELP(EFI TO CARB)

Me and a buddy of mine just recently put a 1990 302 block in my hatch. All i paid for was just the block so there is no efi **** on there. we converted it to carb and used the intake and carb off of the old engine which was a 68 and it worked fine on the old motor. I can get the car to start and idle but as soon as you give it any gass it boggs right down and kills it self or backfires out of the carb. The timing is fine but i was told to rejet the carb but i dont think thats the problem.Help Help Help
