Default having problems with distributor

Have an 87 that was swapped to carb. Started fine before it went into the garage last winter. Tried to start it this spring and now im not getting any spark. Been trying to chase the problem and noticed there was no power going to the distributor from the ignition module. when i disconnect the module from the distributor there is power to the wires coming from the module but as soon as its connected to the distributor the power cuts out. when the dist is taken out of the block and connected to the module, it gets power but as soon as its put back in... no power. Sorry if this seems jumbled, im posting this for my dad. Im not too familiar with carb setups. So if anyone can help out it would be much appreciated.

block to frame ground is good. Cleaned the sufaces up and even used heavy guage wires with new ends, still nothing. This is seriously stumping us...
