I WANT to race an SRT from a roll. ha ha ha. It seems now that I have my car ready to race a SRT I can't find one. I know there everywhere but whenever I'm driving my car I never seem to come up on one. It sux. I want one to try me soo bad. I'll drop to a 40 roll where they think they have the upper hand and woooooooooooo pfshhhhhhhhh woooooooooo pfshhhhhhhhhhh. Bye bye little skittle. ha ha ha
Not to jack the thread, but if you're racing -- especially in a turbo car -- you really don't want to hear that blowoff valve go off. Every time you let go of that gas and get back on it, your boost drops to zero and the turbo has to respool.

And yes, I realize the consequences to your transmission, just thought i'd put in .02 from my two srt-4 driving roommates

walked my ****..

he was totally stock..

after i asked to go from a dig.. he said ha.. id rather waste my tires on something else...

I WAS LIKE WTF!!!!!!!!

4.10s would solve this problem wouldnt it?
He said this because the SRT-4s suck from a stop.

4.10s and gears and he is yours.

And depending on you maybe the driver mod

srt-4s are my absolute favorite thing to roast, especially the ones that are like "OH YEAH, WELL IM A STAGE 3!!".. your stage 3 can lick my sack... and even with 4.10s i still dont think youd take it from a roll, need some bolt ons first, from a dig tho, thats a different story

Not entirely true. Your blow off valve is going to vent air any time you let off the gas, which is every time you shift unless you're power shifting. This air is from the intake tract, and is normally supposed to be diverted into your intake manifold instead of being let off under the hood. This is why atmospheric blow off valves cause many cars to run rich, because the ECU is compensating for that air that it's supposed to receive from the intake but is not getting. Your turbo is going to lose a little bit of spool regardless when you step off the gas, but a blow off valve won't affect that, and the turbo certainly won't drop to 0 spool. The turbine is already spinning at a high rate of speed and its momentum will keep it spinning for the small amount of time it takes to give it more exhaust gas between shifts. All it takes is that inital boost of exhaust gas (turbo lag) to get that bastard spinning and give you some horsepower. Once my turbo spools up, it remains spooled until I want it to relax a little

One a side note, one of the cooler things about the intake setup in my car is that it is a "blow-through" MAF setup. Meaning the blow off valve is before the MAF. This allows me to run a completely atmospheric blow off valve with no detrimental effects to my engine. Pretty neat ^_^

also power shifting a turbo car isnt all that good for the turbo, and i hear its not even worth doing vs a n/a a power shift can mean the race =)

i lost to a skittle.. that happened to get me from his roll.. sighs.. stleast im not a skittle =)

thanks guys...

this guy i raced hes a friend, so im sure ill see him around.. and ill be adding full intake sytem this month (Ram air, t/b pen.), along with 4.10s and more then likly a tune.. exhuast is last for me.. so i think.. he will be sniffin that v8 exhuast in a few weeks =)

this sounds pretty typical unfortunately.

and who cares, if the douche/tool was too gay to race from a dig, then he loses by forfeit

they are pretty nasty from a roll ive heard, but 4.10's will help alot ESP. if youre going from a slow roll, like 20-25, get a bit of a jump before their 3rd gear starts

ive got 4.10's, partial exhaust and tires (which i still launched ****ty on) and we had nearly identical times at every point (my 99GT 5sp vs STOCK Srt-4)

i think the 60' was within .02 and the final ET was like.017

good luck man, they are excellent races with good drivers

To waxyourboard, well if the blow off doesn't release the pressure from the system by blowing off then all the pressure will go back into the turbo and f*ck up the fins on the propeller/impeller. It is supposed to release the pressure. Make sure your sources are right. I know a lot of turbo guys around here and have looked at probably every angle there is to spool faster and too make sure that I don't have "boost drops". And like WRX said, just because the pressure is out of the system doesn't mean the turbo stopped spinning. Yes does the boost go down yes, possibly back down to zero psi, quite possible. But as soon as I am back on the gas and the exhaust catches up with fan speed (which should take all of 5 miliseconds) the boost will be there again. I have a big turbo, one that is actually a little too big for the motor I have (plan on upgrading to 331 Dart soon). So do I have boost lag through the gears yes, but that's the way it has to be. Unless I somehow rerouted the blow off to blow back into the intake. But that still wouldn't help because I have an atmospheric wastegate. So I just have to deal with it blowing off. Plus it's a turbo'd car. The atmospheric blow off is what makes them sound mean.
