Went to a birthday party last Saturday and ran into a guy who runs in the NMRA. He has a supercharged '89 Mustang with a 306 in it. Guy has an awesome car with a lot of money in it. It looks amazing. Best the car ever ran was a 6.4x in the 1/8th...it actually blew up on that very pass.

Anyway, we got to talking and this guy kept telling me how awesome the NMRA is and how they make so much power with only the 310 cubic inch limit and how no other car can do that. So I mentioned the new Terminator's with only a mere 281 cubic inches making 800+rwhp with turbo's...well, turbo's aren't allowed in that class he says. So I tell them how they can make 800rwhp with superchargers....well, that's just simply not true he says. Then we argued about the block on the new Cobra's. He said it was aluminum, I said it was iron. According to him you can do anything with an aluminum block. Unless it's a GM aluminum block, of course.

Then he continues to tell me how these guys run 9.8x-9.9x's in the 1/4 with all these restrictions they have. So I tell him how us (LS1 guys) have classes too with restrictions. They're just different than what he's used to. We have the bolt-on only (stock motor) class. Cam only (stock heads class). And the stock cubic inch class. So I told him the fastest cam only LS1 recently went 10.2x's in the 1/4. He asks me if it had a turbo on it...wtf? I tell him, no, it's all motor. Then he tells me how that's not true and that there's no way any motor could make enough power with just a cam swap to run 10's. So I promptly asked him how much money he had and where the closest internet connection was.

In this guys eyes, there is nothing better/faster/pimper than a Ford. He wouldn't even ride in a Chevy he said. What made the day though, was that one of the guests there drove a Foxbody and it broke down about 200ft from where the party was. We could see it from where we were all standing. It was teh winnAr.

Yea, I typed a lot...but people that brand loyal are just annoying. Especially when they actually have a fast car.

 

NMRA is a pretty good time but yea some guys are tards. What class does he run in, sounds like a Real Street car.

 

u can still be brand loyal but not be a complete tard liek that... how does someone with work put into their car(must know somehting) not know, or accept something liek that? o well... me i love mustangs but ive looked and tried to buy trans ams before... i really dont think they are that ugly and the power they just put out, love it...
LOL u should get his info.. when the NMRA comes to NJ ill try and find this clown... there are faster cars then his deff. few 6 seconders over here(course thats the top class or so).. were they just testing and makin passes or actually competing?

Yea, it's a real street deal. I thought they all had the same rules. I don't know much about it, just what he was telling me. My buddy has a license plate frame from the NMRA and it has the the NMRA logo on it, then at the bottom it says "Hell yea I street Race!". I wanted one...but w/o the whole NMRA thing on it. [8D]

 

He's an idiot. We're already making nearly the same amount of power and my car is just a cam/nitrous car. Everything else is stock. His weight and 1.3 short times is what makes the difference.

 

yea he sounds like one... yea u and ur damn LS1 crap!!! BOOOOOOOOOO... i hate u.. .... cant wait for them to come to NJ... always host a mustang show at the track when they host them at ATCO....
