Default Question about my Launch ...

Ok, as I have stated before, I am new to the forums and need a little help with me launch. Got a 2003 GT mustang with 12000 miles on it. (manual trans)

The other day I was up against a camero at a red light. He kept edging up so I knew he wanted to race. I put it up to about 2500 rpms and when the light turned green I floored it from there. When I floored it, it bogged down for a second.

It seems when I straight floor it in first gear, the car bogs down for a second or two. IS there a term for this? Crappy driver maybe? lol.

I get the most power out of my start when I start out a little slower and then punch it after a second.

If anyone knows what im talking about or can help me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks =)

Oh, i beat the camero by the way, but the launch and bogging down was still embarassing.

It seems also when I fire off that im not getting good traction. Do you guys reccomend anything there? What abuot letting a little air out of the tires? Reccomended PSI?

Did you turn off traction control? "Bogging Down" sounds like traction control kicking on.

Traction control or you just mash it under a heavy *** load, the tires grip, and you went rich as hell.

Only thing that will cure that, is to get your RPM's up a bit higher.

It sounds like you had you're traction control on. I launch at around 2k to 2,5k and have never bogged, however if you don't time the throttle correctly it will dip and then go.
