Drag Tips Please!!
Im going to the track tomorrow, and i need some kind of advice. I have a 98 gt 5 speed, with 4.10 gears. i havent raced with 4.10's yet. So help me out on this..i have street tires (235/55/16), should i burn out in the water or go around it? should i burn them at all or not? what rpm should i launch at? and should i take off in 2nd gear? any help would be greatly apreciated thanks
drive around the water box with just street tires. do a burnout enough to turn 'em over and get any dirt off of them, but, other than that, you dont need a massive powerbrake burnout where you cant see the car..........4.10's...hmm. id say start @ 1200-1500 rpms, and try from there. theyll give you MASSIVE torque multiplication, so, traction, might be a serious problem for you coming out of the hole, especially on street tires. good luck. let us know what you run. honestly, i wouldnt try takin off in 2nd gear. id rather spin, and run first out quickly, than start in 2nd and bog down coming out...try both.
i could see me hittin 2nd, then spinnin 1/4-1/2 thru 2nd, but keeping it somewhat str8.....hopefully. lol
Edit: when i drove my friends $30k 349 stroker, with 4.10's, it spun in 2nd, but, not horribly. definitely more than a chirp, but i wasnt having to correct for it or nothing in the steering. it was nice.

that was STOCK '94/'95 wheels with stock tires. but, its also setup for drag racing too.....70/30's up front, 50/50's out back....which would help....just hang on and pray to stay str8
