Ok this might be a stupid question, but here goes..im cruisin along the interstate (wishin someone would wana race) and a black gt(04) exactly like mine pulls along side of me and starts revin it up! so im like ok here we go!...but he wont go...so he motions me to get off at the next exit and we then pull over at a gas station and talk...turns out to be a really cool guy! he has a vortech w/stock 6lb pulley and so i say well thats great i have a kb with 6lb pulley so this would be a sweet race! he agrees but insist that we start from 40mph roll...on the interstate! so i was like ok but we will have to wait until the traffic dies down. so finaly we go and imediately he pulls a good car and a half on me and im like wtf?! but by the time im in the middle of 3rd he stops pulling and by the middle of fourth iam about a car past him. turns out he had 4:10s and thats why he wanted to go from a 40. i was really disapointed bc i wanted to see how i would hold up against him with stock gears. also if we would have gone from 70(like i wanted to) what would have happened? would he even have pulled on me at all? i know that i passed him in the end but i almost feel like he won bc he stayed ahead of me for so long..ha! anyone have any similar experiences or know what a 6lb vortech(properly tuned) makes at the rear wheels? sorry for the long post...

 

Well the 4:10s wouldnt help him on the top end thats for sure. They will actually prolly slow him down a bit. So if you would have gone from a 70 then I think you owuld have been even then you would have pulled. But I have a question WHY RACE FROM A ROLL YOU RICERS!!! haha But really come on go from a dig... then again he prolly would have smoked you from a dig since he has 4:10s and he had some more power at a lower speed than you. But I think you won because he kept going and you ended up in front.

Also is your car auto or manual and what was his?

 

both cars are 5spd...couldnt go from a dig ..we were in the middle of the interstate and everyone is doing atleast 75mph. didnt matter to me how we raced we just wanted to see whos pulled harder so considering the circumstances we had an honest run. from a dig i just spin all through 1st and 2nd with my stock tires...im sure he wouldve done the same with the 4:10s

if he got in front of you, you lost. yeah, after yall pulled off yall shoulda raced from a dig somewhere, even though that probably wouldve been bad for you lol. good death though.

 

once again we were on the interstate and had nowhere else to go and couldnt exactly stop traffic to race. anyway the reason i ask if i won or not is because he was ahead of me for most of the race,but in the end i was ahead of him...anyway i was just wondering what wouldve happened if we both had the sames gears....i guess thats really my main point...sorry for the confusing post. haha.

 

oh i thought yall pulled off at a gas station to talk or something? anyways, yeah if you had 4.10 gears, it most likely wouldve been a drivers race. whats ur 1/4 time?

 

yea we did but there werent any open roads next to the gas station and once we were back on the interstate the next exit wasnt for like another 20miles or so...kinda in the middle of nowhere..anyway i usually run mid 12s in the 1/4 with the stock gears and spinning through first a good bit with a set of borrowed DRs. my car is best at high speeds IMO. thanks for the replys!

 

cool get some gears and u should be running low 12s high 11s.
