Default How to race...

Ive got a 94 cobra 5spd, stock (-susp. and tires). My buddy has 95 z28 w/an automatic. I beat him, but he always gets out in front because I don't know how to launch with a manual. He just slams the gas - easy... I was wondering if you guys could give me some pointers on how to launch without the RPMs dipping down or whatever. Ive got full saleen suspension and drag radials to fix the traction situation.. so.. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks...

I have the same problem, I was told to practice heel/toe on the brake/gas and practice launching.

with dr's in the back, you should be able to drop in around 3200 rpms feathering the clutch the key is to stay in your power band. when you drop below three grand, your bogging down and lose your 60 time.. a little wheel slip wont hurt, but if your spinning hard you killing momentum

Man....Ive said this many times before...Here go one more time....Street racing or Lowering your ET's are simple...F##k reaction times...They do nothing for you on the street or strip...It's all about limiting the wheel spin. Try this and you will maximize the true potential of your stang.

First Lauch at 1,500 RPM ....Reason...It's not to high, so no excessive wheel spin. Also it's not to low...So no bogging down of the motor..

Power shift from first to second....You will have to know what peak RPM your engine gets the most power.
Lastly shift all the rest of the gears normally, because excessive power shifting will wear on your engine.

When i had my 86 GT i never lost a race using this....It was completely stock with the exception of Shorter belt.. so no AC/SMOG pump and no cat's...I also used this technigue on my 2000 GT Convertible when it was completely stock and i ran 13.8 @100 my slowest time was 13.99. So i just don't understand why people can't get lower track times. Wheel spin is your enemy in a street race.

I usually catch up with more powerful cars even after they get a better launch too....

Gotta love those mid 14 sec Cobras!!!!!

Yeah i thought that sounded a little funny....People can say what the F##k they want...LT1's are fast cars.....A 99+ GT will not stay with one past 110.....They f##king moves. They pull hard all the way to 150 and then some...
