i raise my well known BS flag. A lightning can take a 2k1 cobra fairly easily cuz its auto gets the power to the ground well, so you staying right next to a lightning in your AUTO GT, makes me wonder if he actually beat you by a little more than you say..... maybe not though, i know what i do against GT's but not against a lightning (never raced one before) try to expand on your stories a little bit though hahaha or well start calling you captain vague

 

I thought you said the '01 vert Cobra ran 13.3, which means the coupe should be right at the 13.0 mark. But a lightning can dust it? So the lightning is running 12.8's or so? I thought they were mid 13 trucks with a GREAT driver. Again, not flaming, just wondering where the hell you get some of your info from.

 

My mistake, 13.45 for 2k1 cobra vert, 13.34 for the hardtop. I never said "dust" a cobra. MM&FF ran a 13.31 in their lightning. So that is exactly what i said, "beat". When i said easily i meant because most people dont hit low 13's in their cobras, but alot more people do in their lightning cuz of the AUTOMATIC TRANNY. All they have to get down for the most part is the launch. Mid 13's with a GREAT driver? May i ask where the **** you get YOUR info from?

 

Damn man, you just love arguing. If I wanted to flame you, I would. Sorry, guess I misunderstood "beat fairly easily" with "dust." 13.31 is so far from mid 13's it's not even funny I get most of all my info from the track....anymore ?'s?

 

track info is good, because it tells you what real world drivers are running, but i like mag articles as well (and some i dont, hence the vipers ability to pull a stock 11.7, whereas best ive seen by a mag is a 12.1) because they give you what a car is TRULY CAPABLE of. I guarantee you when i first got my civic back in the day (a whole year ago haha) i couldnt knock off a 15.7 in the quarter as its rated. But after driving that little pocket rocket for awhile, i was able to pull a string of 15.4's/5's with an intake. I just like to use mags as basic for car to car comparison, thats all. Prime example on paper my 5.0 shouldnt keep up with an LS1, but in the real world it does. May it be driver or may it be car. Who knows. with the 344 tq i can understand, but my 271hp is seriously under an LS1's.

 

You're making 271hp at the wheels? Damn...that's a lot for a car that came in under 200 at the wheels from the factory. It's harder to go by magazine times. I've seen the GT's times range from 13.7-14.2. Hell, even the Cobra was beat by the STi....I don't know. I guess I only have a problem with Mustangs b/c everyone I ever met who has one tells me how fast it is, then when it's time to race, they either back down or get beat and then make excuses. Even the great, "but your engine is bigger" after I hear them making fun of some Honda guy for saying the same thing. I'm by no means the greatest driver in the world, specially since I have this M6 which makes it all the more hard. But to this day, I've yet to be beat by a stang and I'm damn near stock. I love any fast car. I'd take an STi just so I could beat any and all from stop light to stop light. Anyway, what all is done to your stang to put out that much power? I thought you just had exhaust.

 

99-01 Cobras are not that fast...The GT's are just as fast as the Cobra's for those years...The best i've ever heard ran 13.99 and it was a coupe...They had a lot of problems with those cars....I think his story is some what believeable...When my GT convertible was stock i beat another 99 Cobra convertible...I won one and then i lost to one...
