A friend of mine has a Caprice (non SS) and since its gotten back form the shop he keeps bothering me about a race. Personally I don't think it's worth my time, but he swears that he might be able to hang with me. He MIGHT have a shift kit, even though I don't think that would help him much. I have an stock 03 GT. I might have to let him ride with me during my 0-100 spurts to scare him out of the race. What do you guys think, should I even entertain him ?

 

Some of those cars had an Lt1 in them and can be made decently fast. I know a guy with one (actually a Buick Roadmaster, it's even gold!)that runs 13.8's on slicks with a converter, gear, cat back and few other little mods. So who knows where he is at. Most likley you will stomp him, but you never know.

 

Race him it is always fun to destroy someone and a close race is even better.

 

Just race him, another win is always worth it.

 

If your gonna stress your motor to scare him anyway, you might as well do it when he's next to you. Another win is another notch in the belt and one more kill story to tell.

i have seen some pretty quick Caprice/Impalas, and even a roadmaster...

 

I would agree w/ everyone and race him. Either he wants to race because he knows what you stock GT will run and it will be a good race or he has no idea and you will have fun beating him w/o mercy.

 

B-Body enthusiasts have found ways to make the LT1 versions of those land barges pretty damn quick, running in the 12's, 11's, and on rare occaisions even 10's.[:-] Of course that is with a very good amount of work done.

 

We have caprices here running in the mid to high 12 range with bolt-ons, weight red., stall converter, suspension and a cam.(and the same with a 6speed) 383 11.50's on motor 10.60 on spray.

 

He's bone stock as far as I know. Like I said, maybe a shift kit, but not sure.
