The contenders:



2003 WRX non sti turbo running stock boost vs 97 SVT cobra. We did 2 races, each one the winner was first one from a dig to 100 (speed instead of distance.. didnt want to measure each way.. and I know I trap around 100... so it worked for us both).

We ran twice... but the guy using my terrible camera SUCKED at doing a count. First video was with the cam guy in my car. First time he went 1 2 3... so we both kinda launched.. I honked and waved so we lined up again, agreed it would be 1 2 GO, went again and he gets a much better launch then me (like you would expect). I'll let you watch the movies to see how it ends [8D] I will tell you we both shifted way to high.. I should have shifted about 300 rpms sooner in 2nd and 3rd and he said he did the same thing. I REALLY wish these vids had sound.

second time, cam guy in his car. This time he also gave a terrible count, and I got a little jump.. the guy in the WRX didnt launch nearly as high as he should have... again.. check the video.. you can see how it turned out for yourself.

The turboed WRX's are definatly quick little car's I'll give them that.. but they are unforgiving as hell.. if you dont launch right... [&:]

2) congrats on the wins man. honestly, they aint sh*t stock, but either way, congrats. the only thing theyre good for are launches....after that, they suck(stock anyway)

Mod's.. I rednecked my exhaust the other day so no mufflers ( I thought I Had a bassani cat back on order from a wrecked car.. but nooooo deal fell through what I get for being bored and experimenting.. honestly sounds a lot better then I thought it would though) .. though not like it really adds any power to these cars.., 4.10 gears, and a K&N fliter... still running my crappy street tires that I couldnt pull better then a 2.3 at the track on as well.

The vid where he launches me.. I reeled him in during second.. and you can see when I hit 3rd and just jump past him [8D]

 

so, with AWD, does that 300 hp end up lower at the tires? cuz u both should have about the same hp, and I figure maybe ur gears make up for his awd (good launch vs ability to reel in). but you just destroyed him... Trapping at 100 is right around a 14 flat isnt it (i know there are other factors tho)

 

I trapped 14 flat at 101.. and I trapped 14.5 @99... just depends on what your 60' is.. and mine sucked every time

I dont think that the turboed non STI's are 300hp.. I think they are a little less then that...

 

ooooooooooooooh, i didnt pay attention to that. ur right. i was thinkin sti. good kill just the same. get u some good tires and ull do much better in the quarter (but im sure u already know that) ive been scanning ebay for a cheap set of nittos or MTs

 

I still thought it would be closer then that... probably would be if we could get a better guy to flag us so he could really get his launch.. but yeah.

I want control arms and DR's sooooo bad. I need them before the next trip to the track, thats for sure.

 

That year WRX was rated at 227 at the crank, and they usually dyno around 165-170awhp. AWD drivetrain causes a big loss of power from the engine to the brake.
