LS1-3 COBRA-1
Well, I let us all down. My buddy has a 98 LS1 Z28. His mods are : k&n, slp lid, muffler, cutouts, egr delete???, air injection delete??, and pacesetter long tubes.
1st race: He wants a 30 roll. I'm in 1st at 4500, 3 honks, he jumps right when he honks. I hit, hit 2nd, i'm a half car up, miss third, miss third, (yes twice) hit third and i'm a half car back, so we shut them down.
2nd race: 30 again.I'm in 2nd now, at 2800, 3 honks, he jumps. I hit 2nd pull 3/4 a car, hit third pull another 1/4, we were only racing to 100 so I shut down right after 110 or so.
3rd race: 35 now, in 2nd, 3 honks, we hit it around the same, I miss third.....
4th race: 40 roll, in 2nd, 3 honks, same time...miss third....[:@][:@][:@]

sounds like it might be time to find a shifter
(im assuming there ARE short throws for the 6sp Cobras.. right? i never thought about it until now)

It's cool, but that's an expensive trans to replace... I'd look into a shifter if I was you....

. but i can't talk, even if u missed third and 5th ud still take me by like 5 lengths lol.

get the shifter and take some time sitting in the driveway with the car off practicing your shifts. you missed third gear 4 times in two runs. practice makes perfect. you may also want to focus more on staying cool and calm, worrying only about you and your car. forget who your racing and where they are at
