Ok, I'm on my way home from work last nite and im just cruising in my little winter beater (199? lil red nissan truck) and some kid in a explorer comes flying by me. At first I didnt care cas i was on my phone wit a chick but then he slows down and waits for me to catch up. When I get besides him he takes off again like hes in a hurry to get home and take a Sh*t, but again, he slows down and waits for me. So I finally got tired of his lil punk a$$ so i put it into 3rd and pull a few car lengths on him. We met up at taco bell later and he gets out tryin to make excuses like "my truck has good top end speed and i was catchin u when u got on ur breaks"... no joke, he actually said he was catching up when i got on my breaks. Maybe he was lacking common sense and knowlegde about what happens when a person steps on the breaks...o well...

He was wit his buddy and all u heard from him was hahaha chris, u got rolled on by a lil *** truck.

i hate those guys...i was catching you after you got 6 car lenghts on the launch. hmmm...17 psi says not.

 

How is that not a valid excuse? I raced a 3000GT VR-4 (AWD for those unaware) and he would rape me off the line by about 3 cars but then id immediately start pulling, but when id get to within a car hed slam on the brakes. So i think it would be a valid argument if i said "i was catching you after the launch". No non-awd car (without ridiculous suspension and tires) can keep up with an awd car off the line, it just wont happen. Just cuz a stock WRX can beat me off the line, so then he shuts down, doesnt qualify as a win in my book. QM is 1320 feet, not 200.

 

It depends, stop light to stop light most AWD cars can do some damage. When you get to where you can pull a 1.8 60ft on the street, then its harder for them to jump ya. Its no easy task gettin a 1.8 on the street, make no mistake about it.

If you are racing the 1/4, yeah sometimes a car will have too much gear and not enuff engine. case in point, a mid 12 sec Maverick 302 auto, had 5.13 gears and 26 in tires. He would beat me to the 1/8 but only run a 12.6/5 in the 1/4. I still remember the look on his face as I went past him just after the 1/8 and ran about an 11.8. It runs out of RPM or power and falls flat, so he was tachin redline for 1/8 mile, never thinking he needed to swap to less gear so he could accelrate the entire length of the track.

So in an impromptu street race its to see who gets out there first, right? Wait a tic we found the cause for the flyby, they think we are still racing because we call it quits when we hit the speed limit, where as by the time they catch up to where we are they can be going 10-20 mph over the limit and so they think we are still racing. But Im with WRX on this one, 115-120 in the 1/4 says no they wouldnt catch me if I hadnt hit my brakes.

 

3000gt's are hard to make fast considering they weigh 4000 pounds (convertible) from light to light it is easy to get the advantage and brake. if people arent aware of this they shouldnt race me. i might take it to 60 in a 40. not many cars can pull off sub 4.5 0-60's. i ran 4.6 before engine management and w/ cats.
