I use to have a 2000 GT auto and my friend has a 97 Z28 w/ the LT1 auto. It was a very close race but he would edge me out just about every time.

Figuer a properly running old LT1 runs 13.8-14.3. That's quicker then your '99 so be careful.

An auto won't hit 13.8; a well-driven 6-speed would be hard-pressed to hit that. 14.3 sounds more reasonable.

It's funny the LT1 gets no love, it can be a very potent engine and responds very well to bolt ons.

A LT1 Auto has just as good of a chance to hit 13's as a M6 does, transmission choice matters very little in a LT1 F-Body.
As for vs a 99-04 GT it's a drivers race in the 1/4, from a roll the LT1 will usually pull on the GT.
