VW Jetta questions....
Last year I raced an 02 1.8T jetta and destroyed him completely stock, well the guy has a buddy that has the 2.0L (non turbo) 5sp model and he is putting in a turbo this month. How much can this engine take? I raped the 1.8 T and he was modded with intake exhaust BOV and boost controller i believe. But i am concerned with this other guy because of the extra displacement. So what kind of HP can one of these things put out when a turbo is added to the 2.0L (the guy is a 18y/o kid so i cant picture him rebuilding the motor or anything, hes just slapping a turbo in. He claims that he will be able to take me and my friend with an SRT4, but somehow i dont see this happening.
Let me tell ya, if I had a nickel for everytime I've heard the words "I'm gonna be putting a turbo on soon..." or "Yeah, I'm almost ready to order my supercharger..." I'd have a nice 6 bedroom house and a college fund for my kids. So until you actually see a turbo on this guys car don't let it be a factor. As far as the race goes....there is only one way to find out, so just race the guy and let us know what happens.
Im not "bench racing" here i am just curious as to what kind of power is he able to get out of a 2.0L jetta with a turbo. Hes a little spoiled bastard and mommy and daddy will get him what he wants so its going to happen. I mean the 2.0 puts out 115hp stock and the 1.8 with the turbo puts out 180, so i dont think hes gonna be putting out anything earth shattering. I dont imagine the engineers that built that **** mobile had high boost and HP in mind when they built the engine.
sorry to say this but im suprised you won that race with the 1.8t. i used to have one with very few mods and i beet many slightly modded mustangs. stock turbocharged engines dont take much to be pretty quick.
This is kind of a hard question to answer because it really comes down to how much boost he is gonna run on the turbo. Go with enough boost......and he could be a terror for even heavily modded GT's..........assuming he has the proper supporting mods to make use of the power (drivetrain, tires, etc.)

And as for him turboing his engine he can only run a certain amount of boost because of non-forged internals.
VW's old 2.0 ltr. is a dog. I presume you are talking about the older model because the current NA 4 is a 2.5 and the latest 2.0 Turbo has nothing in common with the old 2.0 ltr 4. It's a larger version of the 1.8 I believe. It's not like the engine was designed with a turbo in mind like the 4 cylinder developed by Daimler-Chrysler and Mitsubishi. You will probably have to do a lot to make decent reliable HP. I predict you will probably win this, presuming he's actualy going to put a turbo on his car. I can think of so many other ways to make a fast VW.
