Default Lost to srt-4 today

Today heading home I started messin with a srt4 just being curious how fast they really are. He was stage to with straight pipes and I am stock except for flowmasters and silencer delete. We both hit it in second but he started pulling slowly once he made boost. I was expecting to get killed but it was a pretty good race. It wil be an even better race with some gears in soon thoe.
just thought I would share the story of the day

Are you stock?

A stage 2 aginst a stock 89 GT would be more than "pulling slowly".

That is what I was thinking. A stage 2 SRT-4 should be good for at least low to mid 13s.

Stock 5.0's have 2.73 gears. I swapped out to 3.73's and went almost .90sec faster in the 1/4. A gear swap will really liven up a stock 5.0, in fact my stock trans started barking the tires going into 2nd with the 3.73, how cool is that sound in an auto. Go a good shift kit if it has an AOD, I am running the trans go unit.

are 4.10s better than 3.73 for autos? and how much is a shift kit and what is the purpose of it?

I would stay with 3.73 for a daily driver with an auto. That is up to you. Not a huge differnce in the two (3.73 vs 4.10) but a DRAMATIC change from 2.73's. What I am getting at is cruising the highway at 65mph or higher. Obviously a 4.10 rear will be driving the revs up on the engine...but with an AOD that is not a huge concern. Really boils down to how you drive. For a total makeover you should consider gears, convertor and shift kit.

The shift kit gives you those firm quick shifts and makes the trans performer better. You can also dial the shift points to have it shift at a higher RPM. You can get crazy and go with a manual valve body however for a street car all the shifting gets old fast.
