whats up im new to the fourm and got a question for ya. About a week ago i raced thunderbird prob early 90s model and beat it pretty bad which i have a 01 GT just so ya know. Anyways one of my buds called me up and said this dude wanted to race so i went to his house and he has a thunderbird not really sure on the year prob about the same as the other though. He said he had 600 Hp and my car would be no contest which i immediately didnt believe becuase he is a so called mechenic thats without a job and his thunderbird doesnt even have a transmission along with his other 3 vehicles that dont work. Anyways i was just wondering how much money that he would have to spend just to get that thing pushin 600 cause id like to know what to ask him lol.

it seems pretty dumb to call someone out, brag about how much faster your car is, and then say that it doesnt even have a transmission. if its actually pushing 600, its probably an aftermarket block that is supercharged or turbod. he probably went and spent all kinds of money on the engine, finally got it all together, and then broke the tranny. 600hp engine + no transmission = car that goes nowhere fast.

how much money to get a tbird at 600hp? ALOT. they are heavy. the strongest tbirds were the supercoupes (3.8L Supercharged with optional 5 speed) putting out 320 lb/ft torque stock and 210 hp. next are the 96-97 4.6 birds with 205/280. both are mid to low 15 second cars in stock form. PI swap in the 4.6's with gears, beefed up tranny, chip, exhaust and other bolt ons are on par with 99-04 GT's. if hes claims 600hp i would guess its a heavily modded supercoupe. it takes a bit of money to get that much hp and most of the time a bird pushing that much power is with a power adder. they weigh in at 3800 lbs. stock without driver.

jayhill what year is your stang and what mods do you have done?

hey at least you have stang! almost bought sweet, heavily modded 98 GT for 10k this summer. buying it wasnt the problem. insurance in NY for a 20 year old male mustang GT owner is just rediculous.

What does the weight have anything to do with the HP number? And T-Birds are not hard to get 600 hp out of if you know what to do. He could have a 5.0 in there (which we all know are relatively inexpensive to fix up) or the 3.8 Supercharged. THe Supercoupe you can just port the s/c and up the boost. Port and polish heads. Throw a better cam, and spray the hell outta it. You can hit 600 hp on those relatively cheap.

If I were you I would inquire more about his car. Ask him if it's the supercoupe or the V8. Then ask him to pop the hood.

Any car can be made fast. So don't get that "ricer" impression in your head that since you beat one you can beat all of them.

I dunno about a stock 3.8L shortblock making 600 WHP on the stock blower and nitrous though....

But I agree, he COULD have a 600 HP car there, but what are the chances?? No tranmission? Sounds like a cop out to me.

why do you care anyway? The dammed car won't even move, so who wins now?

im not saying that i can for sure beat him cause i dont know but he told he he has a V6 and then said some crap about having to use special fuel or some junk lol jet fuel or something, anyways i really dont believe him cause he is a lil crazy anyways. I asked him today ta pop the hood which he wouldnt and i asked for the dyno results that proved it to be round there but he said they werent at his house.

yeah i forgot about 5.0 birds. i was trying to explain how much it costs to get 600hp out of a 4.6 or SC. 5.0's we all know are cheaper to build up, throw a heavily worked 5.0 in a fox body thunderbird with a 5speed and that thing will roast.

If this is true the guy is full of sh*t. Don't waste your time or gas on him. Jet fuel? In a 6er. Yeah...................................not gonna happen.
