I agree. LS1 from the roll, if the STI is bone stock.

DON'T ever underestimate those STI's. Rice Cookers or not, they are extremely capable cars that can make some heads turn. Let one get off early on a roll and you will be playing catch up the entire distance. They are very dangerous.

STI's are sweett. Even though its AWD im sure with some good mods, it can keep up with RWD and FWD from a roll aswell.
Well the question was from a roll stock vs stock and the LS1 will win almost everytime. From a roll it is more of a drivers race if both cars are stock, depending on how high you are planning on racing to. Both cars take to mods well. I think though dollar for dollar in mods the LS1 will still run it from a roll and possibly from a dig also.
I may be incorrect so STI guys please let me know if i am. But i have heard that in order for you guys to get a good launch you need to launch at around 6 or 7k rpms, almost tached out. I also heard that this can in some cases break the trannies or differentials in those cars. It doesnt happen all the time, but it does happen. As i said though, i could be wrong on that one, need some STI guys to let me know.

The best way to launch an AWD car is to do a fast slip on the clutch. If you do it right you can get as good of a launch as a clutch dump while avoiding the stress on your drivetrain. You can also avoid a lot of wear on the clutch if you do it right. I'm really not that good at it though haha. But that's the best route ^_^
When trying to determine who would pull ahead in a gay-*** roll race, you would usually compare trap speeds. My 2.73-geared auto (slowest F-body configuration) trapped 105 bone stock, as did my g/f's. 3.23-geared autos are a bit faster, and 6-speeds are faster still (107-110). I'm not too sure what the STI will trap, but there's some info for a comparison.
