Default Another test and tune...

Ok I am still running the street tires (245/50/16's) on the rear. Mods include Edelbrock performer heads and intake, 24lb injs, 3.73's, 1.7 rollers w/stock cam, Stallion covert/transgo'd AOD. My 60's are still running 1.9's with no pronounced spinning. I am simply holding the car with my left foot on the brake and smashing the gas for the start. I changed it one time and tried loading the convertor up a little...total smoke show with 2.5 sec 60'. I hope with some tires the car will 60' a tenth or so faster?

Ok, I ended up running a 1990 GT five speed with slicks and out sprinted him on the 60' with a 1.94 to his 1.97. I also beat him on the big end with a 13.50 to a 13.58. Very close race but the win light is all that counts! He trapped at 102mph to my 98.9mph? My trap rpm's are about 6250 so I assume I am over reving the motor with this cam?

Any thoughts? I am in process of moving so going to the track today really impressed the BOSS! When I get settled I will get some drag radials or ET streets and hopefully bring down the 60's and ET's. Am I wasting my time with this stock cam and 1.7 rollers?

nice times. as for the "technicality" of the timeslips, youll have to wait for Ride or JD or somebody who has more experience with drag racing. again, nice times though and congrats on the win

I am pretty sure this cam is done at 5500-5800 rpm and spinning it up to 6250 is why my MPH's are dropping off. This car is my toy while I build another race car...but I am not resting until it goes 12's...

yeah. i just noticed you said stock cam. that probably is whats killing you. id be shifting WAAAY lower than that. altho, the 1.7's do help.........try like mid-5k.....5400 or 5600. see if it does any better.

Well I don't have a choice...it's an AOD. The transgo kit shifts at about 5800 but at the end of the track I can either hold 3rd or slip it into OD and fry the OD band.

b/c then you can shift earlier when you NEED to, and, youll be driving a real car then (j/k btw)

Ok...well I have a trans braked manual valve body in the car I am trying to finish so in spirit I'll pretend to push in the clutch when I grab another gear...
