Default Street racing..

Have you ever lined up with someone who barely beats you but has a serious sounding car? Then he races somsone else you can stomp by like 4 car lengths, and he barely beats them too? So you race the other guy and put a whuppin on him and this car comes back and smokes you again?

Heres how it works. I had just built my new engine, around a 550 hp high compression fun machine. Well this kid in an 86 Monte with a 355 who everyone says is the "fastest guy in town" that runs 13.8's on slicks and 14.1 on street tires got beat by my smaller engine in the same car. He doesnt really wanna lose again, so I race another friend of mine who has a 68 Camaro with a 355 in it. He runs low 14's. I get the jump and just stay far enough ahead to win, like his front fender near my back bumper. Or maybe a length ahead. So the guy in the Monte decides to run the Camaro, and beats him by about two lengths. Well I run the Monte then cause he thinks he can avenge the loss to my smaller 400ci mill. I beat him by about a length again. HE wants to go again, so we do it again, and this time I put a little more on him, about a length and a half. He goes home bewildered after running the Camaro again.

The next weekend the truth becomes known to him. We are at the track for the first race of the year, he runs his 13.8 @ 98 mph. First run off the trailer is a 12.8@ 108 shakedown run for my car. Its still a new engine, by the end of the day I have already seen 11's, but I tell them it only runs 12.7's. That is how you set people up to make money and win races. Speak softly, and carry a big stick. (and be able to run two seconds faster than they can)

I want to see some pics of an all-wheel burnout.[sm=smiley16.gif] No really, let's see some pics of your car launching or something. Time slips are cool but cars are cooler.

The 400 was smaller than my current engine that was the one that wasted his ***. Current engine is 462 ci. Heres why I didnt get my butt kicked. Cause all ya need to do is win, why hurt something or possibly lose it on a known slow car? Besides that I am like twice his size, he has no formal training in any sort of self defense, besides that he isnt one to start fights. Neither am I.

Well squid I hope you get your 12's, I am trying for low 7's tonight. I'll let ya know how it goes. I might get a run or two with my boy Jeff's 03 Cobra.

That's all fun until you get kicked outta places. Then it's a real GOOD time. For some reason people don't like their hometown "hero" getting beat, go figure.

he wasnt a hero, he was the guy who beat on all the mustangs and 3rd gen camaro's. lol. His car ran okay to stomp most stock vehicles. But he wasnt a hero by any stretch. The fastest non street rod was a 69 Camaro with a roller cammed 454 and aftermarket heads. He ran low 11's thru the mufflers on plain old 255 65 R 15 Goodyears. On slicks it would have run mid to low tens. It was crazy how well that thing ran.
