Probably less than what you've spent on the Neon.

What would it take to make a fully streetable, full interior, 30MPG, 11 second S197?

y dont u have a pic of ur SRT-4 in ur sig, it being ur main focus apparently? lol im just messin with u.
to get ur s197 into the 11's, i dont think u have to go FI. just do full bolt ons, FULL BOLT ONS, all the best brands, and get ported heads and a bigger cam, with all the supporting mods. then aluminum driveshaft, flywheel, etc, royal purple synthetics all around, DR's, 4.30's, and take the spare out, maybe u could squeeze out an 11. it could be easier than that, i dunno.
you'll get about 30 mpg, until u start the car.
theres no such thing as an 11 second, not even an 11.999999 car that gets anywhere near 30 mpg, even with a featherfoot on the highway.

congrats stanman...should be a fun little car
you could certainly get you stang in the 11's for less minus the gas mileage part. plus you might get traction before 4th gear on the street[8D]
btw you're insane if you think your neon will get 30mpg when you get it back

Disclaimer: there is no way I can prove these numbers, the car is in OH, and I am in WI.
Ok, just got a call from my SRT-4 specialist who finally got my car to the track. This is on the "street" tune, which is 23 pounds of boost on pump gas. He said my 83% short throw shifter was hindering the time because it's to notchy and hard to get into gear and the clutch needed to be slipped a little, so that would account for the low times for the MPH. The 60' times were also bad, even though he was on MT 24.5X8" slicks. The car isn't fine tuned yet, he just wanted to get some track time in. Regardless, I am excited!!
60'-2.0
1/4-11.89
MPH-123
With a better 60' mid 11's should be within easy reach. ON THE STREET TUNE!!! He said he already took a Terminator Cobra that "wasn't stock" while on the way home. I can't wait to get the car, it should be a blast to drive!!!

A few answers:
The car will easily get 30MPG if I stay out of the boost. With the dump closed it doesn't start building boost until about 3600RPM, with it open around 3200. As long as I stay under that, it drives like an N/A Neon.
23 pounds isn't high boost on a fully built car. This car has EVERY supporting mod you can think of. Pistons, rods, oil pump billet gear, coated bearings, DCR head studs, Methane Injection, DCR head gasket. I mean if there is a mod that can support 500HP daily, it's in this car, so it should last a long time. There is going to be a 30 pound race tune for race gas. That's high boost!
And for those who think a Stang would have been cheaper, you're absolutly nuts. I have about the same invested in both cars total (about $32,000 each). You have to remember, the SRT is a $20,000 car fully loaded. The Mustang was $25,000, and I got A plan on it. If you think you're going to get an N/A S197 into the 11's without a power adder, you're crazy. Look at the times for the S/C'ed ones. They run mid 12's until they blow up, and there's lots of them that blow up even when they are only running 450ish HP. I did lots of research on the subject. All the little problems with the SRT's are well known and fixable, the S197 is just to new for everyone to know where it's limits are, and what breaks or holds.
I still love Patty more than the SRT. How could I not, I am a muscle car guy. But beating a "non-stock" Cobra in an SRT, or even a Z06. Come on, admit it, it's going to be a blast!!!
And for those who ask, yeah, the car will be up on HWY 100, probably on slicks once I get up there.

while i agree that the srt can be made faster cheaper, you are waaaay off on the NA s197 thing. there are plenty of people breaking into 12.50s now, and everyone and their mom is breaking into 12s with just a few bolt-ons. the more serious contendors don't even have ported heads, cams, or other internal work or essentially anything but intake/gears/exhaust/suspension.
we will see NA 11s this summer
that said, i was quite impressed by a heavily modded stage 2 at the track last night running 12.50s consistently. he was running 13.30s last i saw him...
