Anyone else ever have one of those "Worst possible sequence of events" races? Yeah, that was me tonite.

I went to sonic with a friend of mine to find a race.. first thing I saw was a beautiful C4 vette.. teal, full chrome mufflers/exhaust, chrome wheels, beautiful car.. so I walk up and talk to hte guy.. he was in a group with a C5 a blown Chevelle that looked absolutely beautiful (we had a car show in town today), and a couple of trucks.. they peer pressured the guy into it for me so we decided to just go to a deserted strip near by.. had a guy mark off the 1/4 for us and another guy drive to the end of the stretch and park next ot the stop sign so he could watch for any approaching traffic.

We get the all clear, we line them up.. the guy standing doing the count goes 1 2 3 go THEN drops his arms... Whats the worst thing I could do? I went on GO... hit my breaks and went again(*EDIT: I hit my breaks because I went on go, then SAW him drop his hands right after I launched). I had a beautiful launch, and I COMPLETELY ruined it.. let the vette get ahead. with me playing catchup. We had the C5 at about the half way point watching us as well, he said we were neck and neck right then.. I know the front of my bumper was right past the front of the vettes door so he had about half a length on me at the most... then what else do I do? I took my eyes off my tach at JUST the wrong time ( I usualy shift between 6600 and 6800).. and of course? I tap my limiter at 7 grand... 85mph tap my rev limiter [:@][:@][:@][:@] If I would have shifted just a HAIR before then I think I coulda overtaken him by the end. Anyways the end was he had my by his car and one length..

We go to turn around at the stop sign.. and what is waiting there? Right after the vette turned around and I was half way through making a u turn on a 4 way stop a little roundish car with a light bar pulls up. The truck on the other side of the stop sign called the guy who started the race so everyone got out of there... the guy in the vette was oblivious to it so he hauled ***. I went the speedlimit.. I just kept on driving past my friend (who was getting into the final car) hoping the cop would follow me and not stop and try to get everyone else (yes I was taking hte blame)... the guy stops next to the vette who was picking up the guy that road there with him.. rolls down his window and said, and I quote, "Damnit guys, i wanted to watch!" and drove off.... Turns out it was only a security guard [sm=hail.gif]


Anyways cliff notes for those who dont want to read the above: I ran an LT1 Vette with full exhaust and an intake and lost by 1 1/2 lengths because of my own stupidity.. then got the everloving crap scared out of my by a security guard.

 

What year C4? 84-91 you should take. 92-96 to close to call. It sucks when you contribute to your own demise. Nice death!!

95 LT1 auto, full exaust (headers, midpipe, borla catback), and he said his intake.. I am gonna assume thats basicaly the TA/Marrow Lid they do.. not completley for sure. I am REALLY kicking myself. I could have SOOO launched the guy since he was on street tires.. I had a BEAUTIFUL launch until I hit the breaks.. I wish we woulda restarted

I knew better then to try the C5 that was there. lol... I was kinda hoping the car was a limited 96.. I wanted to see what the LT4 would do.. I have really considered getting one multiple times... but nope, 95 auto.

I ran a 94 auto when i had just a catback and a shortshifter. He beat me by a 1/2 car from 55-95.

that really is a nice death. becase u would have beaten him (a pretty damn quick car) otherwise. everyone ****s up once in a while.
