Okay first I know how all of you guys dont really like the bench racing, but this will be my first actual grudge match on the track! Okay well Im gonna skip the long stiry and just spit it out! Okay SRT4 Vs 89 gt!
89gt - 331 stroker; GT 40 Heads; B303 cam; TFS Track Heat intake; 30# injectors; full bolt on (maf, cai, etc); 3.73 gears! My question is how difficult will it be to take down an Srt4? I promise to post video even if I lose! (to prove this is going down)

hell, id think u could start in 2nd gear and shift right to 4th and still just about kick his ***. arent those 331s pretty damn quick? and with heads and a cam those 5.0s are fast as hell anyway. i havent looked too much into them, so i may be wrong.

 

Your mods look serious. I say you would take a stock srt-4.

well, what do you run at the track, and more importantly (if from a roll) what is your trap speed?

 

Now how does a standing quarter mile trap speed and how fast a car is from a "roll" have anything to do with each other? With those mods, you should be into the thirteens. Probably faster. I say win for '89 GT! But if you race from a roll, know one thing: Thats where a stock SRT-4 shines. Doesn't take much to get one spooled to begin with, going from a roll is only putting the race in his favor.

 

i always thought heads and cam for those 5.0s were enough to put out some serious hp, add bolt ons and gears and the car should be a rocket, and then stroke it and then its just plain silly. im a little confused as to why ur asking this in the first place. did u have a little trouble with one a while back? u should be able to waste a stock one from any speed i would think. hell, i was nipping at the heals of one with a few mods (i think stage 1) with 2 passengers in my car without spraying. and that was from a 35 mph roll. stock srt-4s will run a 13.9 pretty easily with a good driver (ie. one that knows how to finesse the launch) they are just a little faster in stock form than the 2v GTs, but are so difficult to launch that it becomes a straight drivers race. 230 hp i believe is what they have. people will tell u that they are underpowered and dyno at their advertised crank hp but no, the numbers seem right for a 2900 lbs turbo coup. their power to weight is good, but they have low torque, which is really why we have trouble with them from a roll. but from a dig they dont have what it takes to get off the line.

anyways, have u had ur car dyno'd or to the track? those foxs didnt weigh really any more than the srt-4s do, so if ur putting out about 250 hp or so u should be fine, and i would think ur way above that. another good way to tell is if uve ever raced a new edge GT and won, u will probably beat the neon.

 

Well I am putting just above 300 at the wheels! I have never actually ran on the track so I dont have any thimes to go by! I just figured either the guy in the srt4 was an idiot or he thought my car was stock when he called me out in front of a whole lot of people

 

youre only making a lil over 300whp......seriously. wtf. you should be more than that id think. but yeah, you should win this no problems. especially if hes stock. if hes modded, youll have him out of hole, if you can drive, but, top end, he MIGHT catch up. not necessarily pass you, but, get closer to you.

 

Let's say he's making 320 at the wheels, that's about 360 at the fly, not bad. Do you have headers or anything else? What about suspension?
