Default C6 vs Harley Davidson

I was at my cousins house over the weekend and he has a 2004 Harley Davidson Nighttrain motorcycle. His bike has a 88cubic inch motor that has 85 ft lbs of torque @ 4000 rpm's and the power is 1400cc's, also the weight of his bike is 700lbs. Now I'm not a fool and I know he will outlaunch me and it was proven on the streets of Fremont but I started to gain on him right after a quarter mile into it then we let off because of a light up ahead. He said there was no way I was going to catch him if we continued on. I think he is mistaken. He speedometer reads up to 120mph and I know that alot of times a vehicle or bike is capable of higher speeds than what the speedo reads but is his bike capable of doing 186mph?

I really think I would have overtaken him futher into the race perhaps in a 1/2 mile run. We were at around 120mph when we let off and I know I had another 65mph left on my speedo to play with. Has anybody messed with a Harley in a race and if so what were your results?

Never personally messed with a Harley, but they have a pretty good top end, well it depends on what model and engine they have. You posted that you guys shut down at 120mph and he was ahead, well we know who would when at the track, HIM. But yeah, your top speed is higher, but he will beat you until his top speed.

I can't see a Harley NOT being governed to prevent it from reaching that kind of speed. Those bikes are just not made for top speed like crotch rockets are. I could be wrong, someone chime in if you're a Harley owner =p

Was that the biggest engine you can get in a Harley? I know V-Twin engines are pretty badass for cruiser bikes, but I didn't think any of those could overtake a C6.

I bet you if guys raced on a 1/4 mile track you would beat him. I beat Harleys all the time just messing around on the street, in the bike world they are slow.

The bike club that is at the track for the test and tunes here EVERY SINGLE WEEK (dont make me rant again.. uhhg), there is a harley.. not sure exactly what model it is, but its a cruiser type, not a chopper. Anyways, he regularly pulls a 14.10. Ive seen him run 3 times and he's nailed it every single time... that thing would be leathal in a bracket from what I can tell.. but he's normaly 2 - 3 full seconds slower then any of the other bikes he runs.

Top end on them doesn't impress me, I took one from 70 starting in 5th gear. The rider was shocked.

Harley Davidson is not a sportbike. The only Harley that might give you a hard time is the modded Screaming Eagle. Other then that they are not a threat. Most have a top speed of 110mph. Don't ever fear a Harley.....THEY ARE SLOW.....

but seriously there is no way that you should even come close to losing against any harley unless a fast buell of some type, and say run hinm again and this time floor it but do iton an open two lane road where you wont be hesitant to let it out

"he was not a harley rider.he was just a rider on a harley"....

"custom harley's" that's a different story on performance....his top speed might of maxed at 135mph???he might of been packing?...easy as hell to hide a bottle on bikes...

BUELS are the only harley made bikes that i know of that can hold down high triple digits...the other bikes/riders end up as road kill.
