Well this started out saying Stock vs Stock. Well MY STOCK meaning Stock 91 GT before changing the heads and intake TB /MM and headers . It ran 14.6 @95 in the 1/4 i have timeslip for proof if need be i wieght the car and ran her on a dyno before i changed anything . I did this tire spinning in 1st and 2nd on street tires . On Dyno on my 13 year old GT vert it made 197 hp to the rear wheels . This car has 93,000 miles on it. Well i have put some GT40P heads on no roller rockers some pullies 73MM from C&L and a 70 TB and a typhoon upper and lower intake and Mac shorties , i considered this stock to me cause lower half hasnt been touched nor has the pistons or cam. But i am going to the track saturday and will report back with my new timeslips. Who would consider this slightly modified? I do .. anyone else? Well what im getting at is 2000GT4.6 if you can run your car at a local drag strip and please post your timeslip with a scanner and well see if a slightly modified 5.0 has anything for you. Remind people GT40P heads are stock parts from a ford explorer 5.0 .There has been no valve job or porting or even cleaning just stock heads. So what you say stockGt4.6? I game if you are cause your claim that older 5.0 has nothing for you is a Bull. Stock vs Stock yes the newer 4.6 is faster but it isnt no killing machine to the older 5.0 slighty modified. I figure we should be even on HP Now with my setup im guessing maybe 250 to the rear wheels on mine. So your 260 should be faster !!! So what do you say bud? No worries im not trying to start a fight just end the forum racing guessing game. and ill trust youll put up correct numbers and not lie or cheat cause i wont cause ill have video of mine as well .ok so let me no whats up.. If you cant no biggie i have a friend who has a modified 2002 GT with 3.73 new exhaust TB , MM so i plan on draging him up there also .ok Peace out and let me know..

If your making 250 to the rear wheels, I really hope im beating you here. I asked for estimates of my HP (getting a custom tune/dyno soon, after I get a real catback) and was told around 300 at the flywheel. Not to mention you said your running a vert. In a vert I gotta think you are wieghing nearly as much/more than I am. Will have to check on this, I cant remeber the stock wieght of a 5,0 vert.

What im saying is that yes, if you want to tear into the engine, a 5.0 can be made to run with/faster than a 99+ with bolt ons, but I didnt have to touch the motor. Closest I got was the upper plenum. The only reason I even mentioned the modding thing was because of my own unique situation, aka no real garage to work in closer than 100 miles.

For someone who only has the facilities or knowledge to do only bolt ons, , a bolt on(only) 99+ is going to beat a bolt on(only) 5 liter any day of the week. Its a simple matter of both cars gaining nearly the same horsepower, but one having a higher starting HP than the other.

Im sorry, but yes stock vs stock(or just mufflers and a K&N anyway) I was burying 5.0s left and right, some with even a few bolt ons. Most people dont really think .5 is that much, but you have to realise what it looks like from in car. .5 in the 1/4 is quite a few carlegnths.

I bet your race will be closer than you think. And from what you said, your friend hasnt done the inlet pipe, upper plenum, headers, and maybe not a x pipe. Not to mention drag radials. So he isnt even close to full bolt ons, while you have already torn into your engine.

Damn is this still going on?

99+ 4.6 > 5.0

Is that hard?

Ok well back to the original question. 02 v6 vs 89 5.0. I happen to have a 00v6 5-spwith a cai. And a 89 aod 5.0 with subframes, cai, pulleys. From a dead launch the v6 eats the 5.0 alive but 25-30 the 5.0 pulls the 6 hard after that. I have raced a few 6's in my 5.0 and have spanked them bad.

Well from what i see being posted from guys on this forum and others ,most 99+ are barely hitting mid 14s .Just look around and see what people are posting for there timeslips. I know my 14.6 @ 95 mph isnt very fast but that was when i was all stock no mods.If 4.6 are having hard times hitting mid 14s then im sorry they arent beating stock 5.0s.Especially modded ones. But like i said Saturday is track day and ill post correct times even if im not happy with them.My friend said he cant go to the track and he has new complete exhaust with x pipe and even more at this time. If you could go to a track that would be cool but if you cant then no biggie. Ill be reposting times Staurday night when i return.[8D]

Yea, it seems typically a 99+ 4.6 runs consistant low to mid 14's. A 5.0 will run consistant high 14's to low 15's. The 4.6 is faster, that's just the way it is. I've not had any problems with either the 4.6 or the 5.0, however, I am more impressed with the 4.6. It's like comparing the LT1 to the LS1, although it's a lil different situation, same type of scenario.

All the magazines are testing 99+ GT's bone stock and clocking them in at 14.0-14.1.

WHY IS EVERYONE HAVING SUCH A HARD TIME SEEING THIS! THIS IS COLD HARD FACT!!! COLD HARD FACTS!!!! Even RECENTLY I can personally think of 3 members who ran 13.9/14.0 BONE STOCK, EVEN WITH A FREAKIN' CONVERTIBLE 5 speed GT!

I'm sorry, but some of you 5.0 guys really, REALLY need to get the clue that the 5.0 is not invincible, although all your under-knowledged friends who think a 5.0 is a true street warrior and pump all this confidence into your head.

I'd LOVE to meet up with some stock 5.0'ers at the track and show them what it's like to have it handed to ya with a stock 99+ 4.6....what is so difficult to understand about this?

HELL! My 02 GT with little mods ran 13.8@104mph. Due to laws my car had to be brought back to 100% stock and now I have the only 'legal' mufflers in Massachusetts on my car, which would be Flowmasters...and we all know the deal with Flowmasters. My friend has a MODIFIED 93 5.0, which includes headers, x-pipe, mac mufflers, CAI & a bigger MAF...

Guess who wins hands down everytime we race? I do. Is he a great driver? You bet your *** he is!

Oh yeah, not to mention my nearly bone stock 02 GT can run any stock 99 Cobra, which also, run 13.9's. Sorry guy, your 5.0 doesn't have anything on a late model 4.6 5 speed...

come see if you can bury this 5.0 with your bolt ons. 8.4 1/8 mile. LS1 territory. stfu.

cam, full exhaust, 373's, pullys, shifter, 245 tires. Lightly modded. Dunn-Benson racetrack. Thursday, may 6th is when that time was ran. Blow me and your 4.6. The 4.6 will always be in the 5.0's shadow. Pushrod ****in power. Call me arrogant, but you started it.

Just re-read some posts, and you also said your 4.6 responds better to bolt ons? Are you actually trying to make that point? a 5.0 (actually closer to 4.9, 302 cubes either way) has more diplacement, which is a huge reason that it RESPONDS BETTER TO BOLT ONS. Please find me a diagram of a 99+ GT making 45 extra horsepower with a full exhaust, cuz ive seen it on SEVERAL 5.0's. Even other guys with 4.6's will have to agree that the 5.0 responds better to bolt ons, its a known fact.

Whats also a known fact is that just because a newer GT's max torque is less than 1krpm higher than a 5.0, that doesnt mean that a 5.0 isnt making more torque quicker, thats simply where it peaks. Is this hard for you to understand how a powerband works? When i had my car dynod i made my max torque at 3500, and has WAY more grunt then modded GT's.

Your GT ran a whopping 13.8? WOW! in 1987 when people started to mod the first fuel injected 5 liters, notchbacks with the optional 327 gears and the 5 spds were able to hit 13.7's all day. But please, if you really think your lightly modded GT will "burn" my lightly modded 5.0, then by all means come down here and well give it a go. Or just go to a track and see what you run, well compare.

Didn't think you had ran your car yet? Did you get a slip? I'd love to see your 60 ft and trap speed.
