There was no USDM STI in 2003. You could get them, but they were considered to be in the MY04. Are you sure it's an STI or maybe a WRX? (WRXs were available in the US for the MY02)

However, from what I have seen/heard on the internet (grain of salt) this is not the typical result. He did have a few mods, and when I say the guy was totally rapeing the car I mean RAPING the car.

WRX what do you think about that video? I have been told I should have been raping the guy alot harder than that, but I did run him down after a horrid launch (30~ degrees outside and no preheat on the tires).

Isn't the STI supposed to be a 13.0 car stock? I would have been happy with a 12.9x with my old setup.

If you beat him with just d/rs, cats, and a set of flows either it wasn't a STI, or he was really screwing up.

That sucker just moved the fk out. My car felt really strong for what was done to it, but it was everything I could do to reel him in until he was in 5th (at which point it was all over).

You had a really awesome run that second time =D STIs are going to be roughly in the 13.5s really... you're not going to find many drivers who could get it close to 13.0. Hell, I probably couldn't get a stock STI to that time.

The fact that his mods said "16psi" tells me he was probably using just a manual boost controller. These are not great to use on the WRX/STI without being combined with some form of engine management, because the stock ECU is designed to operate the car at stock boost levels and fuel trims. Also, a turboback exhaust again without engine management can cause boost creep and other related problems with the car.

If he had a custom tune with EM, I think it would have been a LOT harder for you to run him down, from both a dig and a roll. It's not hard for STIs to see ~320awhp with just an exhaust replacement and aggressive dyno tune.

Again I think you did awesome though! You definitely had the driver mod going for you on the second run.
