So i'm out cruising the other night with a couple of buddies in my 01 stang. As we come up to a light theres a lightning and a later model Z28 stopped at the light. I know my *** would get handed to me by either of these cars so I get in behind them figuring i'll at least get to watch a good race. One of my buddies that knows nothing about cars says "you should get up next to that camaro and own him" lol... I say to him "I wouldnt be able to own him... that truck probably could though" You should've seen the look on his face. No more than 2 seconds after I said that the light goes green and the lightning takes the Z28 by about 2 cars by 80 mph when they shut down. Fun race to witness even though I didnt really play a part... nice to see that the mighty Z28 isnt invincible.

 

So was this Z28 an LS1 or an LT1? If it was an LT1 I can see you possibly beating him, aslong as he is stock. The Lightning is quick as hell stock, let alone modded.

 

I'm fairly certain it was an 02 Z28 with an LS1 that i've seen around town before. It's got exhaust for sure and but I dont know what else.

haha i know. That's why I love cruising with the guy I was with... he thinks just because I have a mustang i'm quicker than ANYTHING

 

Thats how alot of people who dont know sh*t about cars think. I know a guy who was thinkin about getting in between a 94-98 GT, and he thought since it was a v8 and a Mustang it would be hella quick. Now no offense to any 94-98 GT owners, but a low 15 isnt that quick these days. Hell my mid 14 isnt quick these days either.

 

the SVT Lightning is quick... only raced one and i beat it suprsingly...we ran at the 1/4th i ran a 13.7X and he hit a 13.80X, it was close i would pull on him then he would pull on me it was wierd....i took him by maybe a car length ...prob one of the most fun races i have had...he was stock except for a CAI and putting huge *** bags of ice on his engine before the race[8D]

 

Thats a very important mod if you didnt know!!! [8D]

Those Lightnings launch very well and are easy to mod. It would have been interesting to see how the race would've played out had it gone beyond 80 mph.
