took a stock LS1...barely.
so the other night after work, me and a friend were doin some burnouts. heres the vids:

anyway, apparently all this caught the attention of some LS1 camaro, badass thing, is making his way out of the parking lot, and just punches it, that thing ROARED and burned the tires a little bit. so as im leaving, we catch a light, and we both go for it. much to my surprise, i pulled a little bit on him in 1st; then in second gear he started to catch up a bit, and through half of third (b4 i cut it off) we were dead even; with noone gaining. we stop at another light, im like "damn that things badass!" hes like "thanks!" and then the light turns green and we both hit it again. he got a better launch this time, and i got a perfect launch, this time im slightly ahead (or maybe just my perception) with me creeping up ever so slightly ahead of him, but not enough to be significant or enough to be a "kill" either way.
we got up to the light, and we chatted a little. his was an a4, bone stock, hes only had it 2 weeks. i let him know what a nice car he had, he said the same to me.
i honestly thought i would get destroyed. . im a really good driver IMO, and my mustang is well broken in with 15K miles (5 speed manual). im bone stock. what happened? im pretty sure the camaro is a faster car. it was a 2001. im curious as to how i hung with/slightly pulled on it like this. although i do know that if we would have kept racing, he would have gained about a car on me through 120 mph. we all know, LS1 top end>3v top end.

lol he was a4
lol he was a4
maybe........but theres no doubt he was crippled by the stock 2.73 gears. its not that he was auto; more so that the auto comes with those crappy gears. but i don't think his driving was to blame; it was an automatic.
Good race 4.6!!!! The Ls1 in third gear usually spells doom for GT's. I still think by the time 4th gear came around he would have a car length on you (maybe two at most). The S197's are closing the gap on the LS1's. F-body guys need to start looking over their shoulders.

I will admit the 3.15 gear option on the A4's helped out significantly. I had 2.73's in my old A4 95 Z28 and ran a best 13.9.
