you the original owner of your GT? is there a high pitched whining sound coming from the engine bay that you can't figure out what it is?

lol I dunno... you were neck and neck with an 02 SS...you have yourself either one ****ty SS driver, or one BIG TIME freak of an 01 GT.

The SS was probably in 6th gear and pacing you. If he actually raced you, you would of thought "wow, my Mustang is slow as a Honda".

All I can say as far as your friend goes is, is the car tuned right? is the combination of parts right, meaning did he put too big of a carb or cam in it. There are so many varibles when you build an engine yourself and it is very easy to fall into the bigger is better trap. You won because your car is well thought out combination of parts, thats why FORD pays its engineers, in theory you are right your friend should have walked you, but hey thats why it's called racing. As for the SS I have no answer, other than maybe he was not trying, I have one and walk away from stock GT's with it.

IDK, you should contact the owner. From a roll is where the SS would REALLY rape you. I could see you staying close from a dig if you were a good a driver and he wasn't. But from a roll he should have killed a stock GT.

ORIGINAL: DILOstang01

and as far as the camaro SS we started at 75mph and ended at about 145mph
Correct me if Im wrong, I dont know about Ford but doesnt GM cars have a 120mph shutoff or something?? I know that the rev limiter kicks in at 5500 rpms but I thought they shut down at 120. I drove a Grand Prix GTP to 120 and it shut down and I know that the Silverado shuts down at 100mph or 5500 rpms. Maybe its different on the F-bodies.

Let's put it this way, your GT does NOT have the power to handle a 98+ SS unless you have FULL bolt-ons. You could get him from a dig with that, from a roll you'd need a power adder or some head porting/cams work.

As funny as it sounds, on F-bodies it depended on what tires the car came with stock as to where the speed limter kicks in at. On cars with z rated tires I don't believe there is a limiter, and I know for a fact that my SS will rev to 6 grand cause I have done it many times
