Old school GTO race!
Got into a race today with an old(early 70s)GTO! This guy followed me through a few intersections untill he finally got lined up with me on University & Griffin. He asked if I wanted to run & of course I said yes!Well,as I sat there waiting for the lights to go full round the intersection I could'nt help noticing the sound of a cam, nice as hell sounding exhaust & the look of a really determined driver behind the wheel! We got the light & it was on!He must of had some good mods because I didnt shake him at all through 1st or 2nd!We were door to door! When I did get into 3rd I finally started to creep him! That was the closest race Ive ever had with my new stang...One screw up on my part & it would've been curtains!I gotta get some more Mods even if it means a divorce!
Well, I have an 06 GT with some light mods. Dad has a 67 goat pushing around 475 at the crank.
Having had seat time in both but not raced against eachother, the mustang is fast and right now is would probably be lose, but if he ever gets some sticky tires on that thing, I think he would take me.

sounds like a fun race. the mid-late '60's GTO's are the ones u gotta watch out for. i think they were lighter, with the 389 Tri-Po were LETHAL on the streets.
congrats on the win !!!

Actually, the well set up 4bbl 1967+ cars were faster than the 64-66 tri-power cars.
The 400ci HO engine that was used in 67 was amonst the hottest. They turned better times than the later 455 variants.
The stang is quick, but the old goats are just friggin violent, scary friggin cars. Totally different driving expirience.

ive never ridden in an older one(much less a new one), but id love to ride in an older one. i love old muscle cars.
Guy's, i don't want to start a fight, but most of the old school muscle car's have an undeserved reputation for being fire breathing monster's.
Look at my sig.
That '71 roadrunner ran a one time best of 14.00 flat, never to be duplicated again.
My H.S. buddy had a 66 GTO, stock, and his best was a 14.6 or 7 if I remember.[389 tri-power]
Another had a '69 dodge charger rt, 440 magnum, stock except for glasspacks. He ran low 14's.
I think that if you do some searching, you will find that I speak the truth.
There are some exception's, but generally very few factory muscle car's from the '60's and '70's would be much of a threat today.
