For the past couple of weeks I have noticed three different Viper GTS's pulling in and out of my buddie's neighborhood. Usually I know what my car can do against other cars, but I know very little about a Viper GTS. I think they make 460hp and 500 ft lbs of tq and wiegh about 3400lbs, but I still think I may be out gunned. Its only a matter of time before I run into one and Im curious as to how I would do? any info about them would be appreciated.

 

im 99% sure you can win.... stock vs. stock your vette is only a couple tenths behind it in 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.

 

Low 12s stock.

 

Yeh, My older brother use to own a Viper GTS 96', its a fast *** car, but yours isnt that much behind it stock, but with your mods you should be able to hang or beat him....not postive though..

yea and he should be at least high-mid 11's with his vette.

 

Depends if the viper is stock. If yes then it will be a good race, if not just a warning that that those big engines respond very well to mods, such as exhaust, cams, etc.

 

knowing what kind of car you have, and the mods........im thinkin you can take 'em. IF theyre stock. if not, probably drivers race.

 

new stock vipers are like 500hp and 520 torq... and theres a new viper on way called a diamond back remember///// 650 hp is what there sayin...

 

GTS's are the previous model. hell new vipers can be bought through hennessey with 1000+ to the wheels. possibilities are limitless.

 

Actually a Viper's performance relies heavily on the driver. I watched a show on the travel channel last month that pined a Viper against the Ford GT 40 to see who's the faster of the two. The Ford won 2 out of 3 races only because he damn near blew his engine on the second run, but the GT 40 was doing mid to high 13s, the guy in the Viper pulled mid to low 14s. So it really is going to depend on how well he can drive.
