GT vs. Cobalt
I'm coming up to a stoplight that just turned green and there's a black Chevy Cobalt Coupe 2 cars ahead speeding off. I catch up to him by getting into the right lane and I line up with him at the next stoplight. After this stoplight, the right lane merges into the left lane so I knew we would probably end up racing. I look over, and to my surprise it was a high school friend of mine. He's got his windows down so I roll down mine and shout his name since he's got music blastin. We make some small talk and before I know it, the light is green. I didn't launch hard because I didn't want to spin the tires. As soon as I get going, I hear him hopping the wheels and screeching the tires so I got on the throttle. I think I heard some kind of forced induction too, but I'm not certain it was an SS/SC. Anyways, I pull an instant 2 cars, but he keeps the distance until I finally have to merge over and we shut down at 70mph (since it's a 35 limit zone). I was a little surprised how he kept up after I pulled the 2 lengths on him. If that wasn't a SS/SC I guess I didn't shift well enough to smoke it as I should have, but oh well. From what I saw, it had the larger 5 spoke rims, the bigger spoiler, and there were no badges on it. Maybe he shaved them off?

If it wheel hopped,it's a SS/SC.They make the wheel hop in irs Cobras seem not nearly as bad. They are pretty quick from a roll, but suck to launch. It had to be S/C because the N/A SS's are S L O W.Good kill.

snakeman4life,,, got a question (dont worry , not hijacking, it pertains to the thread)
last night at the track, there were about 5 cavabolt SS's, 2 were modded nicely to the tune of mid 12's on slicks
2 morons who were in 15's
and another kid who, when i went up to talk to him and as him what he was running, said
"14.3, bone stock"
and i asked him what kind of 60' times he was managing,, and he said
"2.3's"
fact? or fiction?

It's possible,but that dude is one hell of a driver.One of the mag's[Road and Track maybe]tested one vs a SRT-4 and the Cavabolt ran a 14.4@100mph,I think.He probably didn't have much done to it,but thats a hell of a run if it's stock,like a 13.9 in a stock 99-04 GT,but who knows?

yea, im just skeptical, because the almighty codySS, who is god of cobalt driving, claims a 14.5, and he says thats exceptional..
and to pull an amazing time in a stock car, you have to launch the hell out of it and hook like no other,, and even for a cobalt SS, i cant imagine a 2.3 60' would qualify as a "hell of a luanch"
just dont know[>:]

14.3 with a 2.3 60" in a Stock Cobalt SS?? [sm=bs.gif]
The easiest way to tell if that Cobalt was a SS was if you saw the ridiculous wing on the back... the N/A cobalts are running 140bhp I think, lol - so I would think it's a SS...
