First race, first death
I've had my 'Stang for a couple of months now, a bone stock '02 GT auto. I figured it was time to see what it would do vs anything else. I was cruising along doing about 45 or so when a WRX TSi pulls along side and shows some interest.
We were going up an overpass over train tracks when we mashed the throttles. I pulled maybe a half car when his turbo spooled up and he pulled me by half a car at the top of the over pass. I hit third and started to creep back, but he started to walk when we shut down.
Kind of humbling experience for me... but it has me looking to pry open the wallet and get into the mods.

haha. im sure u mean STi, not TSi.........STi=Subaru, TSi=Eagle......
respectable loss tho. those things are 300hp. get some mods in the car, and you could take one....well, stock anyway.

That's true the longer the race the better your chances. Racing them from1 light pole to the next is futile. All wheel drive offers heaven's own whole shot!!! Try to race em at a 1/4 drag strip where you have time to run them down.

Ladies and [cough] gentlemen, you have just seen the birth of a modifier! ALL HAIL!!!!! It's like a tiny little saltwater croc cracking through its egg for the first time: aaaaaaawwww...so cute, except it's gonna start growing, then it's gonna wanna start eating, and before you know it, it's gonna be evil, wicked, mean and nasty, feeding on wildebeasts and everything else and running mid 12's.....

First and foremost, that car is a credible opponent, and you have nothing to be ashamed of. And the fact that you hung, at least for a little while? Good death.
and we all know that ricer is a state of mind, not country of origin.

But I agree, getting beat by an import carries a little more sting. You wuss!
Ha!! J/K
Open that wallet!! What's your budget?
IN this order
Gears (3.73's) what? $200
tires, rims (17X10.5 out back with 315 Nitto D/R's) $1,200
CAI ($100) MAF + 30# injectors ($300)
L/T headers ($300ish), MAC ProChamber ($150ish), SLP Loudmouth Catback (~$500?)
Shift kit (~$100)
Zex 150 shot ($500) -- install, flip chip tune, dyno pulls $1,000 out the door at Illinois Dyno Center
What's all that? About $4 grand? And it's a step process, too. Follow the order and you'll have your mid 12's, that's for sure, and maybe more. But you're sure to own the STi
