Shifting without lifting your foot out of the gas, AKA I want a new transmission soon.

I didn't know there was a difference, if there even is. Too many lame 'ricer' terms make their way to the internet.

You are correct, these terms have been around since the 60's the lame *** ricers stole them, the funny thing is the Slow and the Frustrated types don't know how to do either one. Also powershifting is not really that had on the trans itself, it can be alittle harsh on the clutch tho.

Powershifting or speedshifting a T45 or 3650 will shell the syncronisers out faster than you can imagine. It only takes ONE **** up and you are done. Its only a matter of time from that point on until you are replacing the transmission.

BTW I dunno if you can get the syncs anywhere else, but for me it was going to be like 240 EACH !!! By the time you acutally get around to replacing the syncs the gears are shot from grinding anyway

Third is really bad about this. And from everything I have heard, the trans isnt worth even opening up, just get a rebuilt one for about 750 shipped (thats what I paid). By the time you pay for all new syncs and a couple new gears you are better off just replacing the entire unit.

DONT POWERSHIFT/SPEEDSHIFT a 5 speed GT!

clutchless shifting is not that hard on it like if you're trying to go easy on the clutch, pulling it out of gear and then gently placing it in the next gear isn't bad unless it grinds. you can even upshift like this quite easily...just rev above the rpm that the gear will put it at so you put it into gear while the rpms are dropping. if that made no sense, sorry...but basically you could drive around all day long without pressing the clutch as long as you don't come to a complete stop, and you really wouldn't hurt the transmission much if at all.

ps i prefer powershifting to speedshifting while racing...speedshifting supposedly is notorious for bent shift forks and just annihilating synchros. powershifting is bad too, but great for keeping mad *** rpms...try powershifting at redline and you will see that it gives an enormous jump...but please, don't be stupid, and double please...don't miss a ****in gear or you'll be in some ****.

I guess those 5 spds are preety weak, I should stop power shifting my neighbors 99 GT then. I can powershift the SS all day and not have any problems
