Has a car company ever dissapointed as much as Nissan did by having the overpriced, overrated RX-8 replace the beautiful, underrated RX-7?
Yeah dodge did it with the new charger

Ford did an even better job of letting us all down, the new GT500 sucks in my opinion and the Ford GT was recalled because all of the upper/lower control arms were prone to breaking due to a factory defect...on a hand-assymbled super car...wow.
LOL! I read about that. Guess who they went to for new control arms. Roush.

Figures, Ford just can't do it right the first time. If you want a world-class car, break down, take out your wallet, and go to a Lambo (Now VW), Ferrari, or Porsche dealership and get one.

yea, the 7s are fast as hell. but dont knock the 8s. I am a die hard mustang fanatic and honestly, id buy a RX-8 as a project car(with the understanding that it would be turboed soon there after), especially one of the new PZ ones. its a 50/50 weight car, so make it a 49rear/51front by adding a turbo and you are GOLDEN!!! to be honest, an RX-8 with a turbo is prolly the only import(saving high end imports) i would buy. i respect the hell out of subaru but i dont like how they look, i wouldnt turn one down if it was given to me. i jsut like things that look good and go fast!

But the 8s are slow as **** - i have murdered more than one in the GT :P my GT would get assraped by a 7.

I think the RX8 would be a hell of alot better if they just took the turbo motor out of the speed 6 or 3 and dumped it in the RX8. 275 horsepower would make those little cars scoot.

Then you wouldn't be able to call it the RX because it stands for Rotary Experiment.

Wow...I am loving this. some respect for the 7 from mustang owners. the 2nd gen rx7's were n/a or turbo. turbocharged 2nd gens came with about 200 to the Rear wheels, third gens came with about 225 rwhp. At about 2900 lbs and 49.8/50.2 weight ratio they are extremely nimble and steady. The Rx8 was never meant to replace the rx-7. Mazda will most likely never make another production Rx7 for America. if you look elsewhere you may find a 98 or 99 that you can import, be prepared to spend loads of money. I happen to have an 89 TII rx7 with approximately 220 RWHP with stock turbo and internals. it is leaking tons of oil lately so i may have to spend a bit of money to fix it (rebuild) but hopefully that won't be necessary...about 2300 for a rebuild and port.

I like the looks of both the RX7 and RX8 and was seriously considering an RX8 when I was car shopping and ended up w/ the stang. Slower, yes, but looks real nice.

Don't get too charged, newb. The RX7 is nice rice, but still rice.

about getting charged, i was just surprised that a group of domestic car owners were talking fairly nicely about the rx7. us rotorheads have respect for a few big power v8's like the cobra, because herein lies our competition.

I am sorry to say that you are wrong about the rx7 being rice. that statement does not adhere to the rules of what determines a car to be rice. Any particular type of car in and of itself is not, and cannot be, considered rice. Its pure and simple. reason being, I don't need to fly by you to beat you in a race. I don't have neon lights or a body kit, I don't have my car lowered for looks. I don't Bov people for attention. My 18" wheels are lightweight and race proven. The rx-7 is designed for performance not show, i'd be willing to bet that there are 20 times more riced out mustangs than there are rx-7's.

I.E. rice
