Default TRACK TIMES!!

Well went to the track today hoping to break "NUTS" into the 13s but it never happend. What is really strange though is my MPH is way up . 102 mph @14.2 60ft are 2.2s . Last time when i went i ran 14.0 @99.55 Mph. There was a Z28 i think it was a 00 i ran him and he ran only a 13.8 @104. Im gonna be posting some video in the next couple of days. I got off 10 runs , the track was hot and humid. I ran consistent 14.2 and 101 and 102 mph times. Was a fun night just wish i had some sticky tires. So now its time to mod time for some heads and cam etc. Was anyone here @ Beechbend Saturday night? Owell matbe next time.

Your trap speed all depends on your 60ft time. If you get a good take off with nothing but traction you can run a 13.5 at 96 mph because I have seen it done. My best time is 13.8 and my 60ft was 2.0 at 101mph.

I drove a 5.0 the other day and it was just SLOW. It was a '93 and it had a 273 rearend so maybe that was the reason. Maybe it is better at high rpms but just in the neighborhood I was in and flooring it it was NOTHING compared to my car.

The best time that I have gotten is a 14.2 @ 99.7 with a 2.3 60 ft. I still have the stock 2:73s, and the car definitly doesnt get going until it hits about 3500 rpms.

Well i have hit 2.0 60ft times before and ran 99.55 mph .And i havent seen any 99+ mustangs that was stock beat me yet. But i havent seen any other stock 5.0 either for that fact. I have no mods and a 102 mph trap speed is fast no matter how you slice it.Considering a 00 z28 was running 103 @ 13.8 . If i had some tires would of been a really good race.Ill be posting the video this week. I know jdaneil you are really hooked on how fast 99+ mustangs are compared to older 5.0s But im not seeing this performace yet.Even on the street.Oh and when i say stock i mean STOCK.Thats a good time 96 gt. There was this one mustang i kept racing at the track and he said he had 300 Rwhp. I looked at his car and seen some edlebrock heads and heard his cam and seen the the carb setup. Was a 5 speed with 3.73. But he lost to me everytime ,he wanted to know what i have done and i told him nothing and it was stock. All the way down to Cats and smog pump.So J do you have any video or timeslips from FT Hood area? Sure would to see some. Im gonna race this guy from work he has a 03GT with alot of mods so he should easyly beat me but well see ill have it on video even if i loose. Should be fun. Anyone else have some track times they wanna share?

Sorry jdaniel but you are incorrect about the speed and the 60' times. The 60' time has a great deal to do with the overall ET, but very little to do with the speed at the end of the 1/4 mile. I've seen many cars with relative slow 60' times really charge hard on the top end and post a good speed. Some cars slip and slide off the line but still have the HP up top to post a good speed. The rear gears also have a big effect on the top end speed. With my old 3.73's I got 100.05 mph with 2.10 60' times but now with my 4.56 gears, the best I can do is 96+ mph with 1.80 60' times with the same engine set-up.
