Default 1/4....wtf?

Let me start off by saying...this was my first time ever at a track. There was about 200-300 cars there. My first run was my best, and it was terrible. Here it is

R/T .695
60' 2.312
330 6.490
1/8 9.801
MPH 75.00
1000 12.612
1/4 15.002
MPH 94.07

AND THAT WAS MY BEST. that was also my buddy's best run. he has a 2004 cobra. his 1/4 13.842 at 105.38

there were STi and EVOs running 13.5-14.5 that usually run deep 12's. they said that the track was crap. i dont know what to do. i dont have the 4.10's, CA's or NX in yet, its all in my room. with the mods i have, what should i be running? i am very disapointed. i also have a diablo...but i am shooting in the dark as far as the tuning stuff goes. i have the spark advance set to 10, and the shift points set, but they always seem to over-rev the shift point.

i was trying to heat up the DR's a bit, but they still sucked. when i got through with the last run, i checked the tires again, and the drivers side was very warm and sticky, the passenger side was not even warm. but there was a lot of rubber on the bumper. wtf? i dont know what to do, but i am sorely dissapointed. any advice would be great. thanks

I guarantee that the sh*tty track conditions and it being your first time at the track, that is where the problem lies. If you keep going and get practice, you could probably knock atleast half a second off your times, but then you'll still be runnin somewhat slower than the norm if the track sucks. If there were guys who usually run 12's, but were runnin mid 13's, than you could probably subtract about .5 off your time. Then all you gotta do is practice and get that 60ft time down to about 2.0-2.1, than you'll be running low 14's atleast. With your mods and avg driver, I would think you could get a 13.8 or so. What rpms were you launching at?

my field elevation is 1868 MSL. I honestly think i am an ok driver. its an auto, so i was launching at barely even 1500rpms...maybe. 13.8 with these mods? that is ****ty. i am so seriously considering selling my car or trading it in.

I always thought you had a 5spd, not an auto. But yeah an automatic with bolt ons you have would yield to a 13.9 or so in the 1/4. Stanggang has about the same mods, and he ran a 13.68 on DR's. 4.6 SOHC's arent that great with bolt ons, unless you have cams and headwork done. Dont sell it man, add a couple more bolt ons and then save for a S/C.
After you get that 100shot hooked up you'll run low 13's and possibly even high 12's.

You're bogging. End of story, you're bogging. Next time, try and launch in between 1500 and 2000 RPMs, and a little bit of tire spin wont kill you. Its better than bogging.

Bogging with an automatic, is that possible? I usually rev up to about 12-1500rpms and then left off the gas, I never spin the tires and I have cheap tires, and their not DR's. Its kinda hard to rev up to 2000rpms in an automatic without breaking loose the tires. Thats why they invented aftermarket stall converters, for us automatics.

lol, I tried to make it stand out as much as i could, haha... Get one! Also, be real.... bolt ons on a GT isn't going to do much - but if the track conditions were crap it is what it is. Try going to a differant one?

What I don't get is this.. the Evo's and STi's were running fine, but you and the Cobra ran like crap? Doesn't make sense.

I think you'll be much happier once you get your 100 shot in... but again, look into a stall - it'll help you dearly - especially with those d/r - it'll let you launch higher then 1500, lol
