Default Older vette

A guy from the GM dealership across the street has a 77 stingray, he claims it has 400hp. We tried to play a little yesterday after work but there was too much traffic. I think I can give him a good run if I can get traction. Not much exciting to say, maybe today I'll catch him at lunch.

Be careful with the mid 72+ C3s. They're slow stock, but only because of emissions crap from all the smog laws passed in the 70s. They're otherwise mechanically similar to the faster pre-72 C3s if you gut the emissions system. With 400hp I'm willing to bet it's not the original engine anyways.

They are friggin' heavy though. Mine was 3660lbs stock. [:'(]

Dude with the vette could be just talking out his ***.
Not to insult any car salesmen here, but most are prone to exagerate or outright lie.
Just taking the smog crap of of the car won't make that huge of a difference. Chevy also dropped their compression down to around 8.5, and put in weaker cam's.
I say run him and see what happen's.

LOL, not exactly what I was expecting. Just race him to see if he was lying or not, and make sure to post the results.

LOL yeah. He's in the car club here. They are trying to get 100' drags setup, maybe If I get some tires I'll sign up and see what happens. One of the mechanics here has a red 76 stingray with the L47 or L42 engine or whatever the hell it is and it's slow as, I dunno a damn snail I guess.

A 100' drag race?
My full size bronco in 4-lo would be a top contender in a 100' drag race.

I know, it's retarded. This hick town won't allow it to happen anyway.
