I thought you guys might like to read about my first ever Mustang loss at the dragstrip. After beating a Cobra (newer body style but too slow for '03-'04, must be 99-02) I was feeling pretty good about myself until I found myself in line next to what looked like a mid-to-late 80's fox body. It was silver and looked pretty stock but it didn't sound stock: dump pipe, huge cam, and the dreaded blower belt whine. It was the worst I've ever been beaten, he ran 12.158 @ 118.80 to my 13.541 @ 104.42. Thought this might make you guys smile.

 

score one for the stangs, not a bad run at all for you though.

BTW I just heard from someone who knows the guy and he said that it's not blown, he just has a bad alternator belt that sounds like a S/C belt . He's N/A. [:-]

 

gotta love the loud gear whine. 12.1 n/a in a pure street car is impressive.

OK, the guy who knows him just told me he was being sarcastic about the bad belt and that it actually is supercharged. Blown or not, that Stang was pretty damn fast! If I was gonna build a dragstrip beast, that's probably the kinda car I would start with, an older fox body.

 

all hail the fox 5.0. and the mullet, gotta love the mullet. as least you got one thing right. lol

 

I knew there must have been a reason I had the urge to grow a mullet! when we bought our 2001 cobra the urge came on strong. A guy down the road has a 89 5.0 lx and he looks like Joe Dirt with his mullet ( not kidding)
