Default traction control?

so i have a v6 auto, and i tend to race civics, jettas, and the occaisional rsx. i won some and i lose some, but i have a question about my launch.

if i launch in accordance with how it says to launch an auto here: http://www.modernracer.com/tips/drag...echniques.html
should i have the trac control (center button behind my gear selector, 2001 premium package) on or off? i tent to burn my tires but get off faster with trac off, but with the it on, the re-worked shift points fall at better speeds.

any ideas?

thanks,

i personally wouldn't launch an auto unless the tranny was modified to do it. You will damage the tranny. Save your tranny and buy 3.73 gears that will help.

I think you mean TIRE? unless you have a gears and posi...then yes, "tires".
My understanding of traction control is, it'll stop/slow that TIRE from spinning soo much.

So what they've said to do when you're racing, is turn the tract control off (so the button has the green light on and under your gauges you'll see a little green tire burn'n out) and turn the Over Drive off( should also show up on gauges with i think "O/D Off")...in my car, its by my thumb on the shifter.

but in the winter time, leave everything the way it is when you turn the car on...dont risk slippn' off the RO-AD...

Have fun and be and be safe racing those compacts!

well, if i do a power brake burnout with the trac control off, both tires spin, but with it on only the right tire spins. so with it off, both tires spin. i think a posi was part of the premium package, or the first owner put one in(i know he did some things, but he didnt tell me, the bastard). well, fun fun. its almost time to go to the track and see which one is faster. however, if anyone else has opinions, feel free to post them.

what TCS does is simply apply rear brakes when it detects wheel spin (I dont know what mustang TCS does as it also can be reducing fuel supply or supressing sparks to cylinders) = same thing you could achieve with easing your foot off the pedal = TCS is good ONLY for unskilled drivers as it takes the decision off from the driver and "thinks" it can decide better for you
